i know it sounds weird, but i sometimes use alcohol to get my brain out of the way so i can get work done. when things are getting hard or stressful, and it feels like the roller shutters in my mind are locked down, a nip of vodka helps melt them all away, and lets my stream of consciousness take over

That might be an idea, littlelostkitten. I find that a lot of the time my brain is immersed in something of a fog or I simply can't concentrate at all. A wee dram might help clear the mind to get work done.

What do others find?

hmm...not a bad idea, but not recommended with driving #-o

I find that it is easier to get to sleep though (and easier to wake up!!), unless you have that one too many!! =P~

I tend to find that I play WoW better when drinking, maybe because it gets rid of the stress =D> only thing is as my pc went bang 3 weeks ago, then I haven't been able to play it #-o, so only been able to do things like go on the I-Net, as this pc doesn't like installing things #-o

but most of the time I don't like, or can't drink, so drinking more than once in a blue moon, is more or less out of the question!

Take up a MUD!
Much better than WoW and you don't need a decent PC :P

I know how you feel.... I am stuck on a 3 month course of antibiotics which could end up being 9-12 months course depending on what my dentist says...

I would love a nice glass of white wine... :-({|=

aargh anti-biotics from the dentist!! are you ok liz?

I love a nice glass of wine specially when I'm cooking tea. And a little drink deffinately chills me out and helps my brain to worjk better just like you littlelost.

I'm intermitantly worried that the desire for a drink when I'm stressed is only a small step away from alcoholism - then I have a drink and feel better! no seriously Ive never linked the desire to have my brain switch off ( cos I'm tired or stressed) with the dyspraxia. hmm hmm food for thought. That's what I love about htis place and you guys of course

p.s. what's WoW and MUD?

I don't think it's just people with dyspraxia that need to switch off, my fella isn't dyspraxic and he definitely needs to after a long day at work! So if alcohol is your thing, and you are happy that you aren't drinking too much, I wouldn't worry about it. Its's good to be able to switch off :)
I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never ever gonna keep me down :D

Hi Ruth,

I am ok, taking anti-biotics as a last resort in order to prevent the loss of several of my back teeth which have been damaged as a result of problems with my wisdom teeth... :*(

Isn't MUD those really old school RPG-style computer games.

Go East
The door is locked
Go North
You are in a spacious room. In the centre of the room is a large wooden table. A book lies open on the table.
Examine book
The book is ancient and written in a language you don't understand
Get book
Book picked up

Vaguely along those lines anyway I think. Reputedly the most difficult MUD to complete was the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy game. Throughout the game you would need to pick up certain items - unbeknownst to you - and should you get to end without being in possession with every item you'd not be able to finish the game!

drunkeness!!!!

ok, here i go, new years eve 2006, i was doing adult games with others in friends house, was boderline tipsy/drunk, was they forced to fit as many marshamallows in my mouch as i possibly could and shout "fluffy bunnies" what that was all about i dunno, but it was fun after i was shown the video after too. wife still has it somewhere too. she wants to youtube it but i've banned her.

after that event I carried on getting drunk and went to loo, not noticing the door closed, i burst in and caught the friends neighbours g/f with her trousers down peeing in the bath, stood upright, i could have died of shock but more than that, i was embarrassed and walked out, ignoring what i had just seen,

apologised for bursting in on her like that and explained that i was drunk and didn't know what i was doing, thank god her and b/f weren't making love on the floor hey, god knows what i'd have done then,

later found out after i went, same woman, (drunk too) was in the kitchen with the hostess, kissing her face off, i thought i was bad when i was drunk! lol
