Joint Pain at Work

Post by blue_ »

I recently started a new job as an apprentice nursery nurse after graduating from university in July. All of my previous jobs have been roles where I did not need to be as mobile as I am at the nursery and I have recently ran into a lot of trouble with illness and joint pain which I’ve never experienced before.

I am working 43 hours a week and as a result I feel constantly fatigued and in pain with my shoulders and knees in particular. I do not know how to improve the pain as I have tried all of the over-counter painkiller options and small consistent exercises.

I am super passionate about my new role and I love the children but the pain is really affecting my mental health and I have called in sick to work multiple times since July.

I would love some advice on where I go from here as I feel like I’m letting my new team down in so many ways.

Hi Blue

Welcome to the Forum. Some dyspraxics have co-occurring conditions such as joint hypermobility or Ehlers Danloss Syndrom so it's important to seek the advice of a medical professional.

Dyspraxics present in differing ways so asking questions like this is difficult because other dyspraxics will often jc⁰l have different physiology.
