Worried about loosing job

Post by Morgan »

I have been working at my current company for over a year now. I am struggling to meet my quota targets despite previous training. I have a meeting with Hr coming up about my lack of performance. I have been told that I was diagnosed with dyspraxia as a child and it has been pointed out by work friends that it may be related to why I’m struggling. Only I don’t think I disclosed this to my boss when I started the job and I don’t want to seem like I am using it just now as an excuse for why I’m failing to hit my targets.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Firstly remember it's an explanation, Not an excuse. I think we often compare ourselves overly harshly and only see ourselves as never enough and always to blame. There's no legal obligation to disclose and I imagine you wouldn't have taken the job if you didn't think you could do it. Furthermore you passed the interview and were offered the job
and have survived a year.
Are there any small changes they could make to help you. What barriers are there to you improving your productivity to meeting the quotas. Are other colleagues finding them difficult to meet? Have you had any difficulties /things happen in your personal life that have affected your work. What are your employers policies on wellbeing and do you have Union representation?

Try not to see it as entirely dark in that you only see it as they want to find an excuse to fire you. Any replacement would still need to be found and learn the role from scratch. They have no guarantees that that person will work conscientiously or stick around.

This is possibly of use
