Is this dyspraxia

Post by dorishuntt »

A friend of mine at college has a medical issue that I am
curious to know the name of. He is 18 years of age and
seems to have a stutter/stammer and often walks with a
slight limp. He drives which requires good coordination but seems to have reduced
co-ordination (especially of his hands) when compared to
myself and others.

There could be any number of causes for speech difficulties and/or reduced cordination/dexterity.
A limp is not necessarily indicative of an underlying medical condition.

Plenty of dyspraxic people are able to drive though sometimes it can take them longer to learn.

This group is not a source for explaining someone's differences. Please ask your friend with polite curiosity.

It sounds like your friend might be dealing with a few different things, but it's hard to pinpoint exactly what without more info. Stuttering can sometimes go hand in hand with coordination issues, but there could be other underlying factors at play. If he’s comfortable, maybe he’d be open to sharing more about it.
