Research Project: Dyspraxia and touch - participants wanted!

Post by jamesinman »

Hi everyone,

New poster but long-time lurker here.

I'm doing a Masters degree in Psychology at BPP University, and for my dissertation I'm looking to talk to people with a diagnosis of dyspraxia aged between 18-35, who'd be happy to spend around an hour or so on a video call answering some questions relating to their experiences of dyspraxia and touch.

In brief, the discussion topics are:

1. Your childhood experiences of touch, including the kind of materials you liked and didn't like touching, and what your relationship was like with the people around you.
2. How this has changed as you've got older, and the kind of experiences you have now.
3. How you act in your relationships with friends, family, and romantic partners, if you have them, and how touch plays a part in this.

Any contribution you make (including your name) will be kept anonymous but I'll use the interview in my final dissertation. I'm ideally looking for 8-10 participants.

I have to share my participant information sheet which has some more information, too - the link is here: http://jamesinman.co.uk/msc/Participants.pdf

I'd really appreciate anyone who can spare me the time, or if you know anyone who might be interested. You can either reply to this thread, PM me on here, or email j.inman2@my.bpp.com

Thank you!
James

I am a 54 dyspraxic woman and would be happy to talk to you unfortunately have set an age limit of 35. Why have you excluded older adults?

Hi both,

As my dissertation is a small word limit we’ve been advised to reduce the differences between participants using something like age or gender. Thanks for your interest - I will see if I can widen the age range and come back to you!

Best wishes
James

Too late to the party but would love to see results! I’m insanely sensitive to touch!

Hi everyone,

After taking a break from studies due to ill health, I'm looking for the last few people who might be interested in an interview - they're running about 30 to 45 minutes in length, and I'm happy to share the research once it's completed!

Thanks
James
