Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone also had periods of low moods that last for a few days, maybe a week, at a time?
I have had this for as long as I can remember. It makes it hard to communicate with people when this is happening because I just feel empty, sad and guilty inside.

I'm certain it's not just you, though it's probably going to often feel as if it is (just you). Please don't accept that 'this is normal' and you'll always feel like this as with assistance things can and will improve, If it helps write down what these reasons are/may be and then with some help you can start to pick them apart and feel better about yourself.
You're of course welcome to do that on here but please don't be afraid to ask your GP (or others) for help.

Thanks for your response Tom. My friend who is also dyspraxic said that when she feels like this she tries CBT.

You're very welcome. CBT (or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy it sounds worse than it is in full!) works similarly to my description, whereby you take your negative thoughts about yourself and counter them with evidence that these things are not strictly true. The classic example might involve thinking 'Everybody hates me'. And then thinking of all the exceptions to that (I'm not Donald Trump, Theresa May etc People are nice to me and do value me because . . etc.
i think you have to go into it with an open mind and keep at it so that you find you're starting to think more positively and this automatically starts to kick in more quickly on your bad days with less conscious effort so that you find yourself sinking less often/less deeply. You will have bad days but you'll become better at taking them in your stride.
Another technique that os being used more is Mindfullness. Taking time out to clear your mind of stresses and give yourself a break from the madness.

I just read your post, and yes I can completely understand how you are feeling as I am the same. I get moods like this and I feel so bad about it, in work and at home...
For me as I don't have any friends to talk to about how I am feeling, it is very hard for me as well.

I get low moods alot, I usually listen to music, draw, watch a movie, have some chocolate, go for a walk, meet frienda for coffee or phone my mum. I usually just call my mum or go visit her.

Yes I agree music helps me when I am in a low mood which is a lot these day, also my hobbies help I spend a lot of time on my computers.. Lots of them and one way for me is Sci-fi...

I have a consistently low mood, unfortunately. I am also pretty lonely where I am living now, but oh well! ;/
I don't really have any advice for you I'm afraid. SSRI antidepressants do not work on me it seems. My issues seem too deep for simple remedies.

I am very moody. My sensory/ arousal system is set up similar to those with ptsd
