Ach, I hate melted plastic, it's one of the trickier things to clean up.

I left a plastic cutting board on top of the grill once (The food goes under the grill, why would I look to see if anythings balanced on top?) and got plastic on toast. Blergh.

I have done this before...In his wisdom my other half put a box on top of the cooker. Now I was looking for some room, and pushed the box back inadvertently switching the hob on.

A few minutes later I could smell burning, and saw the box smouldering away. Not an issue I think to myself, switch hob off. Pick box up place it outside and empty the contents, before anything gets seriously burnt.

Except it didn't go to plan with me being so clumsy...I picked the box up to take outside, except slipped over. Manged to throw the box and its contents over the entire kitchen. At which point the extra air and wind made it catch alight. Had to go running round stamping out each little fire. Now we have a blotchy lino

I've several experiences of leaving the oven on overnight or finishing with a pan and forgetting to turn the heat off, making the bottom of it go all black. Don't think I've managed a full on fire as yet, but it's surely only a matter of time!

Yikes!

I almost lit a fire the other week -- I dropped (threw?) a match while lighting a candle. Fortunately the match burned itself out while falling. It was around a lot of work papers, too; that would have been a disaster!

One of my friends at my previous uni - managed to fall asleep with a candle burning which caught some hanging paper in their bedroom and managed to do alot of damage to the halls of residence. No fun in the early hours of the morning ... trying to go down the stairs with thick smoke.

To top it off not long after the first fire, someone set the fire alarm off by mistake... and one girl was in the shower and in the rush to get out managed to fall over and break her leg.... so we are all standing outside with an ambulance crew and a fire crew...

Thank heavens there was no 3rd thing....

Needless to say I don't want to live in a high rise building or live in halls this time at uni...
