Hi Jim,

I've been reading your thread with a lot of interest, I sincerely hope all goes well for you. I just posted a thread about job interviews and wether to disclose my dyspraxia or not - I also work in the NHS and just failed to get a job that I really should have been successful in getting but I think the stress and dyspraxic brain blur led to my downfall.

I may now be entering the stage you where entering when you started this thread as I will be going back down to grades and have to work with 2 new people who gat the full time and part time position of doing the job I was seconded to for the last 6 months.

I feel this will be untenable and need to get a new job but where to start? I'm so distraught that I too have been considering asking my doctor to sign me off with stress but fear that will be just another factor to go against me.

It all stinks really doesn't it?

Good luck with your job search, I look forward to hearing how it goes. You seem to have great tenacity so I'm sure you'll win through,

Jo :)

Well, I'm still standing with my chisel and chipping away at the old block.

I'm not quite as 'interview' busy as I was the other week, but I'm still applying to jobs.

I had a nice surprise this week, as one of the employers I had a pre-interview assessment with last week invited me back for the second stage of interviews, even though I had felt that I fluffed the assessment.

I had this yesterday, and it went well, stupendously well in fact. I'm not taking anything for granted, though since I've felt that before and still come out with egg on my face.

Previously I'd had an interview with this panel before, sometime last year. They remembered me and were kind enough to say that I really impressed them last time and got "pipped at the post".

This panel actually asked many more questions than many other panels in my experience, although luckily with my recent experience and efforts to pre plan my answers I found that I had something good to say for most, if not all of them. I'd also had a gut feeling that a safeguarding question would come up and so I prepared an answer the night before and lo behold safeguarding did come up.

I was like "Well, I'm glad I thought of this last night" to which they replied 'awww you're prepared ;) ' And so whittled out an answer covering the main aspects and as soon as I mentioned referring to the local safeguarding authority they exclaimed, "Right! Good, perfect answer".

So, I'm feeling positive. That doesn't mean I'm going to get the job, but there's got to be something in the fact that I've interviewed with them before, and even got called back after an pre-interview assessment of which I'd felt didn't go well. I think whatever happens, the experience gained here is valuable.

Hopefully, I should hear back one way or the other sometime next week. I've also got two pending interviews arranged for next month. And it wouldn't surprise me to get some more invitations soon either.

You know, with all these interviews.. one day I might actually get a job. [-o<

. . . . A job as an interviewer perhaps?

I hope you get positive news about this one. It does sound promising.

I hope you don't mind me saying that this thread is a great demonstration of your determination to keep going despite all the setbacks and disappointments.

More interviews, more rejections, even more interviews and yet more rejections.

My frustration level is reaching a peak and I'm really struggling to keep my morale up now.

And I've got a HR meeting coming up with my current employer soon, which probably means a final hearing and probable dismissal is just around the corner.

"Keep calm, and carry on interviewing".

Jim

I can totally understand your frustrations as I've been there though I don't think I ever got as high a hit rate on getting the interviews so you are making the chances and you will get there. Hope a door for you opens soon.

As for the NHS, more fool them as appropriately deployed we all know you'd be an asset and they will have failed in their duty of care to a useful employee.

Finally! A job offer

And yet more interviews to come, may even end up with multiple offers.

Excellent news, hope you do get multiple offers so you don`t feel forced into a role that does not suite you!

So my references have cleared, Occupational Health have passed me as fit to work (following a face to face consultation) and my DBS checks are underway.

I have a start date, Monday the 14th... and I've handed my notice in at my old job which has been accepted.

It's been a hard few years, but I finally feel like I've turned my life around to point in the direction that I want it go.

It really has been a "Keep calm and carry on" thing.

Well, I'm three weeks into the new job and it's going rather well. I'm mostly training at the moment and there's a lot to take in which can be daunting at times. But it's already beginning to gel, I'm feeling comfortable and get on well with the other staff.
