I have an older half brother on my dads side, but I dont know him. My dad has ocd and I think he has aspergers. I am my mothers only child. alcoholsism and (very serious) mental health problems run in her side of the family, but no nd conditions from what I know other than 1 cousin who is dyslexic. My mother was told at 22 that shed never have kids cause she was already premenapaulsal and she had to have an ovary removed cause of cysts and the other one was termed a lazy ovary cause it didnt produce eggs. I was concieved supoosedly by accident on her last fling with my married father. I grew in one side of her heart shaped womb and had many problems. The amnoe said I had spinabifida, which I dont, and I was a emergancy c section cause it was discovered after my mother was in labour that the unbilical cord was only a couple of inches long. I stopped breathing several times and my heart stopped twice. The doctors said I would never survive, and that if I did Id be brain dead. I was in an incubator for two weeks, before going home with an aunt, then back again two weeks later cause I had jaundice and had went from 5pounds 2onces to 5pounds. My mum had post natal pyschosis (from which I suffered futher damage as new born) and suffered from depression and anxiety disorders my whole life. I have add, dyspraxia and disgraphia, which has all just been discovered as an adult, I did see several psychiatrists as a kid who suggested a varriety of mental health probs, but never learning difficulties and as my mental state was due to an unhappy home Iv not had serious problems of that sort as an adult (at present anyways). Although many signs of my conditions were obvious in hindsight I was a bright child who reached all milestones on time or early so its easy to see how there were missed, however frustrating tha is. Iv already had some of my mothers gyny probs, I was a very early developer and hit puberty at 9 so my chance of early memopause is high and I had ovarian cycts when I was 11 and 12 although they were never serious enough to require surgery. My boyfriends sister is dyslexic so I worry that my furture kids will be at a disadvantage from both a genetic standpoint and the risk of birth complications similar to what I suffered. From what I understand dyspraxia etc are not on the autistic spectrum, but related to it. I like the umburella term neuro diverse cause it seems to cover the links simply. I spent time working with people with autism and from my reading at that time Im sure my dad has aspergers and basically my dyspraxia is the complete opposite of how he functions so I think that there is a relationship between conditions but that dyspraxia etc are not on the autisic spectrum.

I am the youngest, my parents had my brother, mis-carried, and then had me, but they only wanted 2 kids,

but I think it is hereditory, as a relitive has got dyslexia, which from what I could find as that they seem to be very closely linked as well, or whether it was just that these chat pages, and dyspraxia still wasn't that well known about!!

I think reserchers need to still look into the conditions more, so they can come up with like a point scoring system for each condition!

as you look up dyslexia, adhd, dyspraxia, and that is to name a few, and you find the same problems, there isn't 1 specific way to tell exactly.

I think so far they are going by what the weather is like outside! or it is raining, then you got to have adhd! or it is sunny there is nothing wrong with you! and so on and so forth!

I'm the oldest, and my sister (though she may be stark raving bonkers at times) seems perfectly 'normal' (did not know what other word I could use to be honest)

I don't know wher I come in the birth order as I have three half siblings, two older half brothers and one older half sister and one sister. So I guess i'm the second youngest and the only one with Dyspraxia. I count my half bros and sis as my real ones coz i'm close to all of them.

My family goes like this:

Mother: Dyspraxic
Father: Dyslexic

1st Child (Me - Oldest): Dyspraxic
2nd: Dyslexic
3rd: Dyspraxic
4th: -
5th: Dyspraxic
6th (youngest): Dyspraxic

SO our house at home has 5 dyspraxics, 2 dyslexics, and 1 (anomilie?) with nothing. :D

Hi, I'm the youngest.
My eldest brother doesn't have dyspraxia but his oldest son (my nephew) does. My younger brother is autistic. I'm dyspraxic and my two boys have been diagnosed with dyspraxia, my daughter is showing dyspraxic tendancies but hasn't been diagnosed although I'm going to ask for a screening test because I've just been diagnosed.
