Bad day!

Post by lauren21 »

Not had a good day with myself today feeling very low and tearful, memory not good and just not noticing what is going on around me!! I'm new to this and thought I was doing really well, mixed up day! How do you deal with short term memory loss and being aware of others!

I've been there too.
Sometimes you can find a way to go somewhere quiet for a bit - I think all the sensory input can overload our working memories sometimes.

I'd love to see more suggestions on dealing with this, it never seems to get touched on when people talk about dyspraxia and it's a bigger problem for me than the co-ordination stuff

Me too I have been there, I think our sensory systems work differently to others, I would go with the over load suggestion, sometimes if you have had a lot [ what a lot is will depend on you] of stimulation the day before you can find yourself feeling very tired the next day or at least that's what happens with me, exercise like going for a brisk walk sometimes helps as does standing in a dark room for a few minutes [ I used to stand in the store room I just had to be careful that no one came in] you can also try pulling an exercise band tightly around you or carrying something heavy all these work for me SOMETIMES at other times sleep is the only answer.... these are tips that sometimes help me hope you find something useful!

I tend to be quite often alone rather than around things that need full 100% concerntration for long periods of time. people skill, delayed reaction times, then usually find it best to do things like shopping during night time when I am at my worst. so like 1 -2 am. but not very good around Christmas time.

it tends to be bizzier during the early/late hours then. kind of good thing about having internet access is the online shopping for christmas presents rather than face hords of headless chickens that don't know where they are going!!
