Jumping

Post by Andrea »

Any ideas how to make myself jump higher?
Ive been doing Taekwondo for 6 years and just cant do more than a tiny jump when doing a kick. its annoying.
Wondered if anyone had any suggestions. everything my instructor says just doesn't work with my brain.

Hi Andrea, I hope you are well :)

I took up karate during my teens to help with my self confidence, and found I had the same problem as you mention here; jumping :S Although, I'd say my biggest was remembering the sequences I had to do to move up a grade/belt... Needless to say, as most things, I gave up pretty quickly :( I got to a green belt and stopped 'cos I was far too scared of the physical contact that came next, and, without my sparring equipment!! :O Lol!

Sorry I can't offer any advice/tips, hope you find the answers/suggestions you are looking for though! :)

Fractured a rib on a trampoline once any form of voluntary jumping or bouncing well and truly out of the question since then.

How about rhythm, we are lacking in that too, right?? Just the mere mention of gym... aerobics, dance etc. Oh and forwards/tuck rolls, handstands, cartwheels etc? Forget it!! :S lol!
