EATING YOUR FOOD TO QUICKLY
I was reading a article that you are far more lightly to be overweight if you have Dyspraxia.
There is a fork that has just been invented that helps you eat your food much slower by flashing a light every time you eat too fast it also has a vibration alert and a Bluetooth connection and a USB so you connect to the internet and brings up your own personal chart and monitors you while you are loosing weight.
Many Dyspraxics do eat their food far too quickly and eating it more slowly you are supposed to recognise when you are feeling full and so eating less and leaving food on your plate, which is something you dont do when you bolt your food down.
Paul Mckenna does a similar programme with his methods of putting your fork down in-between mouthfuls and has a good success rate .So I was wondering whether you think it would be a good idea for those of us who may need to shed a couple of pounds
The product is not yet available yet but it made in the USA and will cost about 90 dollars.

Its called the hapifork I first heard of this From Dysppraxia UK

Wow--that's me, too. I used to never have any play time at all at lunch, and not even necessarily get to finish my lunch, because I was such a slow eater.LuluBoo wrote:I eat very slowly, I used to at school only have 10 minutes left of lunch when i was younger.
Maybe that's why we dyspraxics eat so fast. We were under so much pressure when young to eat faster, that once our ability catches up, we don't know how to slow it down. That makes sense to me. And yes, I often do eat fast, not really savoring the food.
I had a similar experience with handwriting. My handwriting was large and messy for years, and I couldn't make it any smaller no matter how much I tried. I always thought of myself as having very big handwriting--until, in seventh grade (age 12), I was asked to write something on the board in class--and then the teacher said, "Write bigger. I can't see it."
From then on, throughout my school career, teachers often told me my writing was too small. I remember getting a ninth grade paper back with this comment: "How do you manage to write so small? Sincerely, your blind teacher."
Obviously, I was overcompensating for previously big handwriting.
Eating must be more of the same.
Re: EATING YOUR FOOD TO QUICKLY
With me, eating speed tends to be variable - sometimes I eat quickly, and other times I eat quite slowly.
Re: EATING YOUR FOOD TO QUICKLY
I definitely fall into the category of eating too fast. I can virtually inhale a chocolate bar then wonder where it's all gone when all that's left is the wrapper.
Trying to make a conscious effort to eat better but when I'm stressed I find myself tucking into any nice sweet things on offer.
Scourge of the cake table! that's me!

With a foot full of bullets I tried to run faster but I just hobbled on to the next disaster.

I probably eat too fast, too. I didn't think it had anything to do with dyspraxia. Some people eat fast, some don't. Interesting...
Hopefully not making too many moot points... heh... *ahem*

When I went to secondary school I remember my eldest sister telling me not to scoff my food down so quickly but I also remembnr having difficulty swallowing some food like porridge or oranges - anyone else had this prob?
Also, just as a side note: check your email list or even your spam folder sometimes. You can find sponsored articles or random suggestions in there. A lot of companies use services like Findymail to get email addresses, so that might explain why we get these unexpected tips or ads.

I do tend to scoff my food quite quickly. I've always been a fast eater. I love food. Im a healthy weight, but when theres snacks and nibbles in the house, I have to have one of everything generally. If its there, I'll just get it.

very true - same hearI have to have one of everything generally. If its there, I'll just get it.
I don't think that there is much of a link between eating too quickly and being overweight - its all down to what you eat and of how much (that's another topic entirely) if you eat quickly then you will just be full quicker or not (depending on the person).
I havent known much of a link between dyspraxicia and eating slowly or quickly - if anything I thought dyspraxics would take longer.

That was interesting. The brand new high-tech HAPIfork is pretty costly as eating utensils go. But this one is actually the latest gadget launched to the nation's multibillion dollar a year diet industry. The fork, presented at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show, measures eating habits and alerts you if eating too much or too easily. It may well be worth its price tag if it works where other devices have failed. The HAPIfork also comes with the HAPIfork and HAPI.com apps plus a coaching program to help improve your eating behavior.

Skinny slow eater here
Re: EATING YOUR FOOD TO QUICKLY
Depending on what I'm eating, I tend to eat plates of food e.g. pasta, roast meals, rice etc. very slowly. Usually I'm the last one in my family to finish anything. However, if it's just a sandwich or a cup of tea, I can bolt it down very fast, even if it's dangerously hot. Maybe that's a queue in itself, blow on something a number of times before consuming, hehe.
