Adult swimming lessons

Post by Ruth »

anyone had any adult swimming lessons? I'm really thinkng about it. I can swim but not very well and the only stoke I can now do is a cross between breat stroke arms and front crawl legs ( it's the one you have to do when you're pregnent so you don't strain anything!). Only now my muscles can't rememebr how to do anythiing else...

I'm abit shy and nervous about going - wondered if there were any reassuring tales you guys could tell me.

Uma Thurman had adult swimming lessons, but she got fed up with them quickly and is rich so she fired her swimming instructor and hired a genetic scientist instead. That's why she's got webbed feet.

That's not very reassuring, but that's okay because it's not true either. Except the webbed feet, I swear she's got a geko in her family. I don't have any reassuring swmming tales (except ones I've made up)

I can tell you this though: In the last four years there have been lots of things I've been nervous about trying. Of the ones I've tried there is not a single one that I regret doing. I think that we always get nervous about the things that are worth doing because there's nothing to be nervous about unless there's some big gain you risk not getting. I figure if you're nervous about something then it's almost certainly worth doing and wish you the very best of luck.

Failing that I do know someone who just got her masters in biology and is a genetics specialist...

Cheers man, I really needed cheerin up today!!
Sorry Ruth but I don't have much of help to say, I learnt to swim when I was 5 under great duress, and I aint that great now.
I just wanna add to what Greg said tho, this is a saying I personally really, really believe in.... \:D/ "You regret the things that you don't do, not the things that you try to do even if you fail"
Well it dont sound like that in my head but it was the best way I could get the meaning across...hope u understand that lol
I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never ever gonna keep me down :D
