QUIRK-ISMS

Post by joy »

Anybody have any Quirk-isms with their Dyspraxia
I dont have any myself but my son tends to flap his hands when he gets excited ,and makes a humming noise when he is concentrating, which he does without realising. He used to get told off in school ,he calls it his concentrating noise , al through he has left school and if he playing games on the computer he still makes that sound without even realising.Anyone else have any little quirk-isms ,rituals or anything else.

I have a lot of body movement I can't really control. I mean, if I think about it, I can stop, but my body wants to keep moving. For instance, I'm always swaying or rocking in my seat if I don't have something to rest my back against, but when I do, my feet start tapping. I'm always fidgeting with my fingers, making the same patterns on my fingertips and hands. Sometimes when I'm thinking, I flick my wrists and fingers. And sometimes I catch myself clearing my throat uncontrollably. I also repeat what people say on movies and TV shows, and in real life, but over the years, I've learned to just say it in my head instead of out loud, because it gets on people's nerves and they always complain about it. Sometimes I slip up though. It may be because of my ADD, but I believe it's more than that.
