Hello from a struggling dyspraxic

Post by bp1981 »

Hello, my name is Ben and I am 30 years old. I live in Lewes East Sussex.

I have only just fully found out that I am dyspraxic although have suspected I might be since I was about 8. I am also dyslexic. It has always been a struggle to cope and understand both of these conditions throughout my life. The biggest problems are feeling you are the only one, not knowing anyone else who has these conditions and everyday life can be tough.

It would be great to chat to people who understand and have similar issues as I do. I hope to hear from you all soon.

Hi Ben,
I am Sandy Female 36 nearly 37. I found out 6 months ago that I may be Dyspraxic. My Mum always Said I had clumsy child Sydrome. I have since asked acouple of people what that means. I have been refered to a neuroligist.
I am struggling in many ways. I am Lucky I am married to a great guy who takes good care of me. But it scares me as I could never ride a bike. I can only eat using one hand I can't use knife and fork. I am around on and off if you feel you need to chat.

Hi Ben,
This is a great place to talk to others who understand. I have only told about six people I'm dyspraxic and they are family and a couple of mates. It's very hard for people to understand and here in Australia it's like it doesn't exist in adults. I've spoken to physios who don't know what it is!!
Get on here and vent or celebrate whenever you feel like it, it's saved my sanity a few times, just reading posts and knowing I'm not alone.

Hi Ben - welcome to the forum, feel free to browse the posts and chat about things weather it is related to dyspraxicia or not. This is a grate place to find out about what dyspraxicia really is and how it affects people - hopefully it will help you to feel less alone as there are others like you out there.

Are you a member of the dyspraxicia foundation, if so then there are groups which are branches of the dyspraxicia foundation.

It makes the world of difference, knowing you have somone at home you can confide in doesnt it? Its' sometimes all you need when you've had a tough time at work :) Do you drive Sandy? (If you don't mind me asking) cos I couldn't ride a bike either, and had great difficulty with my driving lessons and had to give them up :(
