I'm a pretty likeable type and would say I have lots of good friends who value me as a very loyal friend. However I tend to feel I'm often on the outside looking in and only a few friends get anything like full disclosure of what I'm thinking/feeling as they'd probably be worried or upset as a lot of what I try to say comes out wrong or I fear it will. The phrase once bitten twice shy is a curse to me at times.
I think we've all probably been hurt or taken advantage at times and those experiences can be much harder to put behind us. No one is perfect and trying to be perfect will only wear us out/lead to failure.

Re: Friends
I can relate to some of these threads, thanks to voluntary work im finding it easier to make friends but you know after the introductions are over where you know their name and a little about them selves, especially if its in a large group i find it harder to get to know them, but i tend to focus on one person though i am aware that i dont want to isolate the person im talking to lots, which has happened on numerous occasions.
Also think keeping friends is a major problem, maybe it is for other people? after 15 years my friend doesnt want to talk to me anymore, she literally must have got up and thought thats it no more!

Re: Friends
I find it very difficult to make 'close' friends.
