I would love to work with fashion and clothes, or else with make-up. I'd also love to be an artist, but I find it incredibly difficult to manage my time and money so working freelance wouldn't suit me.
Sometimes its best to just go for it. Im the same on this, and have failed a lot but i dont want to look back on my life and regret what i havent done.

I forget to turn up to meetings, lose track of time and can organise next to nothing but have decided im gona make it somehow, however hard it is.

You can do it just don't stop pushing

I work in a day care centre as a room leader of the 0-3 yr old room. I love working with the kids and I have great staff who just know I'm a clutz and can't talk straight but they don't know why, only that I have chronic fatigue. I find the book work side of it stressful and often the noise level does my head in. But you can a complete idiot and kids don't care. If they think you hurt yourself when you fall over you get lots of hugs and kisses.
I've also been a teachers aide and that is my ideal job but funding for those sorts of jobs is very difficult to get.

I worked in a large public library which did get quite busy and stressy at times but our shifts were fairly structured and I got such a rush just being around all the books! There are enough organising elements in a library to satisfy me - maybe it's a feeling I don't have anywhere else in my life so I seek it out by enjoying library work.
They are also generally calming environments, musty storage rooms are an added bonus for me!
Mon to Fri 9 to 5 would feel too rigid and waitressing, pub work etc was definately not for me, too clumsy, too much going on.

To an extent, yes. It's difficult to describe. I find it hard to know where to begin but systems reassure me. I haven't quite learned how to follow systems in my home life yet but I need to install some, learn them and keep following them!

I have a timetable for both me and my son. It includes 30mins to wake up. If it didn't have my I would forget one or two things everyday like feeding the dog or locking the front door. Many a saucepan has meet its end in my hands and I once locked the dog out all day. My sons has stopped morning arguments over night

I am a teacher and manage SEN provision for a primary school. I have found I have had to do everything in stages retaking exams taking career breaks to go abroad, work supply and so on. I have used returning to work part time after having my son to gradually built up to higher levels of responsibility. When I think back to when i was a teenager and I couldn't cope with the simplest jobs I know how far I have come. I find I have an insight in my current job that most of my 'academic' colleagues can't fathom.

Teaching is great career but a lot harder to get into if you are dyspraxic or dyslexic now but then equal oops has come on a lot since I trained too.

Hi Bonny. I'm wondering whether you disclosed your dyspraxia to the school and, if you did disclose, whether you told them before or after you got the job? If you disclosed, I'm wondering how understanding staff have been of any dyspraxic traits you may have ? Deciding whether to disclose or not has been a real dilemma for me when applying for jobs (and going to interviews), particularly where teaching posts are concerned. When I have disclosed, I've still been criticised for doing things directly related to dyspraxia and it has seemed that the people criticising me (who knew I had dyspraxia in the first place) have no clue about how my behaviour (eg sometimes talking too loudly) is directly related to having dyspraxia. People's behaviour towards me even when I have disclosed has then put me off disclosing when I've applied for other jobs or to do a course, but it can then be difficult for me to explain why it took me so long to get my PGCE (I took a break after being diagnosed with dyspraxia, then the University took far too long arranging for me to return to complete it). I'm interested to hear about anyone's experiences of disclosure- apart from having adjustments made (such as equipment provided or more time given for tasks), does anyone feel as if they were treated differently from other employees? I'm asking this because when I worked as a teaching assistant I found that my line manager (who'd taken me on knowing I had dyspraxia) regularly talked down to me (including, as a colleague noticed, in front of pupils) and seemed to be reluctant to give me responsibility. Has anyone found, as I have, that they've somehow been treated as a lesser employee?

I dont think anyones dream/ ideal job should be affected by dyspraxia. Things may be 100000x more difficult, but you can be 1000000x more proud of yourself for not letting things get you down and following your dreams.

Dyspraxia creates difficulties, not impossibilities.

I would love to work in a museum or a library with lots of old books, but no computer stuff. In neither of those scenarios do I see myself doing much work though, unless you class hiding away and gathering as much pointless knowledge as possible work.

Haha did you know there are more stars in the sky than there are grains of sand on the earth and more people are alive today, than have ever died? Nice bit of pointless knowledge :)

Tempted to make a thread for random interesting things, but I would end up just copy and pasting the whole of wikipedia.
