Hello there.
I'm a 40 year old Irish woman. My GP recently confirmed what I had suspected for years (dyspraxia) and I'm in the process of arranging an assesment with an OT to verify this and hopefully assist me to get special driving lessons in an automatic.
I was delighted to find this site. I've never met anyone else like me before! I'm looking forward to exchanging embarrasing stories and useful hints. And giving and receiving support too, of course. I'm happy to chat with anyone from anywhere but am particularly interested in chatting with other Irish members.
I found myself having a lot of different emotions when I got my diagnosis (which I won't bore you with here) but suffice it to say that I had a lot of processing to do. Anyway, I've decided to make it into something positive (hence using it as a means to get help learning to drive) rather thean dwelling on the stuff I can't do. Now I know what I'm dealing with I'm gonna try and find a way around most of it. The rest I'll just bump into, I suppose...
How do you do?
