To raise awareness of the condition is a good idea. We were talking about ways to try to raise awareness in my local group I attend in Walsall, West Midlands. This seems a difficult task as not many people have heard about the condition in the UK unlike dyslexia which everyone has heard of. This surprises me in an age were technology has become far more advanced. This seems a different story in America where more people seem to have heard about dyspraxia.

A video on dyspraxia will help people understand the condition better. Let me know how you get on. I would be interested and any tips on how to make living with dyspraxia easier.

I think not only could we do a dyspraxicia video but a youtube channel as well where we should all put videos up about it - talking about it, how it differs and realetes to dyslexicia (as that whats most people are fammiler with), what dyspraxicia is and isent and genralie its affects on who posted the video.

That way it will defunatly rase awareness and give more of a personal view of dyspraxicia.

Let me know how the video goes - I may be up for making a video as well (youtube style)

In relation to rasing awareness of dyspraxicia I am thinking about talking about it on the lava lamp forum I am on (oozinggoo.com) - has anyone got and tips, suggestions, stuff to inculed etc on this.

I think setting up a YouTube channel to promote awareness of dyspraxia is an excellent idea. People who have heard of dyspraxia (which a lot of people haven't) often assume that it just means you're clumsy and not good at sport. As other people who use this forum know all too well, it means so much more than that. I've lost count of the number of ways that someone has behaved in an ignorant way towards me as a result of my symptoms (eg hesitant speech and taking longer to do things)- people have even behaved in this way when they have been told I have dyspraxia, which just goes to show that they don't know about the various ways in which the condition can affect people.

Children with dyspraxia to carry out complex movements, like buttoning a shirt, ball, or shoelaces difficult. Their handwriting is often difficult to read and their experiences with language, thought, perception, and attention problems. Barriers to the use of early detection is critical to the recovery of the child, the experts point out that early in life is found to have dyspraxia children more likely to be subject to peer, high self-esteem and less experienced academic difficulties.

that is true - getting digignosis and treatment early is the best way of giving the best chance for the child. Also the main thing is understanding from the family as well as in school as dyspraxicia is a lot more then a educational difculitie.

Generally referred to as adorning allocation disorder, with circadian tasks such as attached shoelaces motor difficulty, with knife and fork, administer buttons and added to eat. This is usually due to delayed motor abilities and motor planning ability. Despite its name, the use of barriers is not just a motor allocation disorder.

This seems a difficult task, since not many people have heard of the disease in the UK, unlike dyslexia everyone has heard of. This surprised me in a time where technology has become much more advanced.

It is a big task to get people aware of dyspraxicia but we all really have to play oure part and let people know about it. It's is surprising to me when people dont know about it and a lot of my life is about it.
People have heard of dyslexicia as it has got a lot more attionchion over time and it has been known about for a while where dyspraxicia is recent in its agnolagment so time does play a part.

Yes technolgy has advanced but technolgy is only a tool and dosent mean that people will hear about it due to the advances in technolgy so its important to utilise the technolgy to raise awareness.

Also just to say that dyspraxicia is not a disease like phisicial diseases or mental illness its a nurologicial condition.
