Loss of concentration
Towards the evening, I often find myself drifting away from concentration, and I just can't work or read. Could this be to do with Dyspraxia? I talked to a friend about this the other day, and he thinks it's weird. I always drink lots of water, so it's not dehydration, thanks Mum!

Re: Loss of concentration
I do tend to get the same thing myself I always tended to associate it more with being tired at the end of the day though.
Most people (that I know at least) tend to loose concentration as the day wares on, maybe try taking a quick 40 winks if you can always helps my concentration.

Re: Loss of concentration
If I am tired it seems to make my dyspraxia worse. I get clumsier and can't take in information.
Re: Loss of concentration
Yea thats related / caused by dyspraxia, if you only lose concentration in the evenings then thats quite surprising as it is quite commen for people with dyspraxia to loose concentration at any point - due to distraction, tiredness etc.
I know that I loose concentration quite a lot as my mind can get borad and just switch off - I understand where your coming from.

You're tired Dobbinhun. The day is full of challenges like keeping on task, remembering sequences, lifting heavy objects with weak muscles etc etc and and to top it off you need all the energy you can muster to pay attention.
Dyspraxia can be like any other energy-sapping medical impairment and means you need to pace yourself to make the most of the energy you have throughout the day. Personally I find I need a complete break and some down time at some point each day, often when I stop work. It's a time to completely shut down, close eyes, not talk and even have a short nap. That can be the difference between being unable to communicate or act later in the day and having full, rational conversations with my friends and family in the evening. If you live with family or a partner it's worth telling them you need to stop and switch off for a while each day and how it's to their advantage because you're available to them afterwards.

Re: Loss of concentration
I have terrible concentration problems. If my mind is not solely on one thing I just cannot function. If I try to do work but have different topics or assignments on my mind plus other pressures or other things occupying my mind I don't really get much work done.
I am an archer. I have been shooting for 3 years. My main problem is my lack of concentration. I can get a whole stream of 10s then suddenly drift off and start shooting all over the place. I find that eating, drinking plenty plus doing yoga each day really helps me in the archery range and also in life in general because when you do yoga or pilates you are solely concentrating and thinking about the movements/stretches so it helps you to learn to control your thoughts to only one thing.
I find that when I am only focussed on one specific thing eg the discussion of a rivers project or just reading one chapter of a book I am really productive but when I have other things on my mind distracting me I am not anywhere near as productive.
I also find that a small uninteresting room with no scenery to look at outside and just the one book or project with you is the best place to do work. At uni people with disabilities can book private rooms where you can sit and read or dictate or listen to recordings or use the computer and voice recognition software. I work really well there because I cant get distracted by thoughts of other work to be done or with games or things that may distract me in my bedroom.

Re: Loss of concentration
It happens when you can't able to concentrate on things due to many reasons. It can be your life style, work load, harmonic problem, stress, unhealthy eating habits and many more. You can over come your problem in a very natural ways and there are also no side effect of it. You must try them out.
Re: Loss of concentration
You will have Attention deficit disorder were your mind can wander and you can be easily distracted you may find it hard to concentrate you can become more clumsy and unco-ordinated and when tired usually gets worse even speech can become affected by getting your words all mixed up.
Feeling tired when you havnt done vigorous exercise is called reactive hypoglacemia. My son was told to take a healthy snack when he was at school because he would become very tired after running around for a while but if you eat something your sugar levels will perk up and you will have more energy again, even without having a nap. Because of the dyspraxia it is a lot harder for us to work are muscles so we burn energy quicker so becoming tired and blood sugar levels will drop.
