Smear Test
I'm traumatised. I have to go in for my smear test tomorrow. I've tried twice lately to get it done and it was so painful that the doctor had to stop. Does anyone else have this same problem and what did they do?
Re: Smear Test
Yes. I'm not having mine done. Had a swab done about 2 years ago and was so pianful I screamed.
I am relieved that it's not just me who has the problem though.
Hopefully someone can offer us some advice as I feel I should have it done.

Re: Smear Test
I used to find it very uncomfortable, then I went to my local family planning clinic. They have more time to spend on each person and it is much more informal. My last test recently was done by my new practice nurse. She just chatted to me and took my mind off it. It is really important that you have it done. Perhaps you could try meditation or distraction techniques. I've also found Rescue Remedy ( a homeopathic remedy) also works well.
Re: Smear Test
I don't think meditation or rescue remedy will cut it. I had 2 double shots of Brandy and couldn't go through with it. So nurse told me to go away and forget all about if for a few months and try aain later.

Re: Smear Test
just read your post and was wondering is the pain due to dyspraxia???because i often find sex painful but never thought it could be related.
Re: Smear Test
I don't know. It could be. Would be interesting if it was. I also have very tight hamstrings which makes things difficult.
