Hello,

Just found the site and I am sure it will prove useful.

I'm 40 years old, struggled all my life with different issues but have managed to cope, daily being called strange, clumsy, wierd, thick, stressy, rude etc etc suppose being in the Police service since 1992 has helped me get used to it lol.

I was made redundant a short while ago, but thats another story, so decided to go back to education and started a degree. 4 months in, i realised I was struggling severely so popped along to student support, who carried out an assessment on me and that indicated that I may have been dyslexic. Wiated for a Psychologists appointment, and after 5 hours of testing - I have been diagnosed with severe dyspraxia, dyslexia and something else that I cannot remember but I have been referred to a specialist optician to possibly have coloured lenses in my glasses?

Well all this has just happened in the last week so its still in my thoughts all the time................feeling guilty now to all those people I gave speeding tickects to - what happens if I read the speed gun wrong? Lol Soory is all I can say!!

Hello and welcome to the forum jpmw!

Was it Irlens syndrome, the other condition?
I was also diagnosed when I went back to uni - I think there's a number of us on here who that has happened to.

Hope you enjoy your time on the forum :)

Hi there. What are you studying in college?

There are sort of plastic sheets that you can put over the page rather than wear glasses. They'd be aobut a 1/4 of an A4 page. They're like sheets of coloured plastic.

Hi,

Will im just doing a foundation degree so its not too bad. I wear glassess already so ....I dunno really, I may be getting a bit ahead of my self any way......had the assessment this week and although I been told it verbally, I guess I still need to see it in writing. Its kinda knocked me for 6 as although I have always thought something was up ..... i hoped it was not either. Now I just don't know what I am going to do moving forward after university.....really don#t want to put my self working for another organisation again, particulary how I was treated by my last employer.......just need to figure it all out.

Don't worry too much about after uni for now cause it will be distracting. I don't know if this is any help in the mean time. I'm photosensitive so I wear glasses with an antiglare and my room is like a cave beause I can't have direct sunlite on paper when I'm reading it. I prefer older books that use that sort of yellowy paper because the glare off it isn't as bad. What are you studing?

Thanks for that info, I guess I should have known something else was up as quite often I wear my night driving glassess with a yellow tint, during the day as it eases my vision.

I'm not doing a real degree - just a sports coaching and development degree, not sure why I choose that apart from likeing sport! Would help really.
