My people

Post by Grackle »

Hi,
I think that I've finally found my people reading this site. What a relief it is to find people who understand what it's like. I'm Grackle and I'm a 44yr old Canadian woman. When I was a child, I received occupational therapy for a number of years for a small muscle co-ordination problem. I think that the OT helped me a lot although I found it very frustrating (I referred to OT as torture by pick-up sticks or said that I did Ori-mushy - others would call it Origami). I had less trouble with gross motor and I used to run around a lot when I was a kid and played sports that didn't involve hand-eye coordination (of course I was usually covered in bruises from falling down :P ) Despite the OT, there are a lot of things that I just can't do ,like driving, artistic stuff, recognizing my own neighbourhood and on occasion my own house  I never connected this to my childhood problems until I thought to look it up recently and eventually found this site. I thought that I was the only one over 7 who drops everything, spills everything, walks into doors, trips over air, can't get organized properly etc. It is so nice to find others like me.

Hi Shey,
Nice to meet you. I love your sense of humour! I must say that I've been lost a lot of times and on occasion, I have also met some nice people (one lady that I asked for directions once walked me 3 blocks or so and watched me walk into the correct building ). I'd love to say that I was a kid when it happened but it was actually in the last 5yrs or so ](*,) .
