ironing

Post by mona creagh »

Hi, I'm new, new to the post and new to dyspraxia. My son was diagnosed six months ago, my research made me realise where he got it from. It's nice in a way to now there is a reason I've struggled with so much. Like Ironing for example. I am currently surrounded by piles of clothes, some done some waiting. I've spent the morning struggling with it and am about to give up, again. For many years I just avoided it, didn't even have a board.; Kids made me face it. i have to say though, when I get started, there is some satisfaction to be got. Especially when I get to put those piles away.

For me, ironing is THE most hated and difficult chore with my (albeit mild) dyspraxia. I buy things that don't need ironing, such as synthetic (not sure if that's the right word for what I mean) tops for work and I'd never dream of ironing sheets etc but unfortunately there are still items that DO need ironing and I get totally stressed out by it all. My Mum solved her problem by NEVER ironing!

I don't bother ironing unless it is a job interview.

Ironing is the one job I hate doing... I always go for anything which is easy to iron.....

I'm not too bad at ironing T-Shirts now. I didn't get the hang of ironing until I was 21. I couldn't control it properly and as it's hot then that had me rather worried! I will be doing some ironing later, I always put it off until the last moment!

I'm not allowed to iron at home, last time I tried I burned myself and a hole in the shirt I was ironing
