A big how do's from me!

Post by lauraevans2020 »

Hey all. I am a newbie and found your site while looking for help. Just been diagnosed with Dyspraxia =D> after a motorcycle accident. Has taken two years of bugging GP and bad refferrals to get this far. ](*,) I am quite severe, walking problems - cant go out unaided, problems with my hands, poor balance and co-ordination, chronic fatigue and heightened anxiety and would love to talk to others about it for some support and advice! :D

Cheers :ball:

Hi and thanks. The forum has been great so far. I have been reading about everyone else's experiences, and whilst i know its a bit of a cliche but I will say it anyway, its so nice and reassuring that I am truly not the only person who is like this. :D Its been so hard over the last two years, trying to get anyone to beleive me that there is something very wrong with the way my brain works  thankfully I have a good GP who actually listened when I said things like "my balance is shot" "I cannot walk in a straight line" and my favourite "why does my left hand not want to work, drop things and if i try and do up buttons or a zip it punches me in the face" #-o This forum is the only place i have found that supports people like me. There are no support groups and my local mental health hospital can do nothing. Cos i am not mental i suppose? =P~

Hey Laura,
Im a newbie too, My walking is clumsy , but you unfortunately seem to struggle more with it. I can relate fully to your problems with anxiety and fatigue
"if i try and do up buttons or a zip it punches me in the face" This line is both sad and funny.
I think all of can relate to a time when we have been so clumsy that we have hurt ourselves by mistake, but the way you say it it also is a great example of the dyspraxic gift for self depricating often dry sense of humour. \:D/
I know what you mean regarding the mental health issue. I think us dyspraxics are generally in a wierd no mans land between non dyspraxic happy people on the one hand and those with mental health problems on the other.
Obviously some dyspraxics fit into both of these other catergories, but im definantly in the no mans land!
what do you do Laura? work? uni? unemployed? Ive had periods of all three! they are all changelling in their different ways.
