i can't believe i haven't found this place before! well done on creating such a lovely community- i've been reading some of your stories and couldn't help but be moved.
i am a 30*cough* year old dyspraxic single mother of a gorgeous dyspraxic 4 year old boy, and a frankly astonishing 5 year old little girl who may or may not have asperger's. i got an ur-diagnosis in my early twenties, but it wasn't until my son was diagnosed with d.c.d. about 6 months ago that i started reading up about dyspraxia and- lo- everything started to fall into place, not just for him but also for me. it was such a relief. so, i'm pretty made up that my children, hopefully, aren't going to suffer some of the stuff i did. my coping mechanism has always been humour, and it's pretty rare that i don't manage to find a silver lining.
having said that, i've been through the low self esteem-underachievement-addiction mill and out the other side... i hope that i can bring that bit of worldly understanding to the board too. its so important that we increase recognition, understanding and support for people with dyspraxia.
anyway, hey! *waving feebly*...
i'm new!
