Work Problem

Post by tompete123 »

I am writing this for the group as I am looking for some advice. I started a job as a Cashier 6 months ago at the prison I work at. Since starting it I have struggled.
1. Completing all the tasks with the Cashiers Role in 6 hours. In fact at first it was taking me 9 or 10 hours.
2. I have to make up money packets for prisoners being discharged.
3. I receive money for prisoners coming into the prison
4. I have to make up money packets for prisoners going out the next day on work placements or a town visit.

I can just about deal with the money side of the Cashiers Role abeit slowly. If I try and speed up counting money out I make mistakes. I am scared of paying out too much money and losing the company money. I alsways have trouble balancing my cash at the end of the day "Cashing Up. I can do it but it takes me longer

My colleagues as a result have to help me out much more than expected. In particular one lady really dislikes me and even told me " I wasn't the sort of person she would socialise with" She is my cover when I am away and she taught me my job. Furthermore she is the acting manager when our manager is off. She treates me in a bitchy curt manner. She is not like this with the other people in the office. In fact she is quite friendly towards them unlike me.

I have approached my manager about way she treats me. I have been rude to her in the past and even shouted down the phone at her in the course of mu current job ( without meaning to ) I did apologise straight afterwards. He said she bears grudges a long time. Some while later he said "I cannot make her like you". What hurts is that I am in my office on my own and I hear this lady chatting and laughing and willing to work more closely with the the ladies in the office than me.

This situation arose before I was aware I had dyspraxia.

Anyone else been in my situation

Any Advice would be welcomed
