I have always known that I'm proned to bumping into things, untidy, disorganised, forgetful, I lose things, the list goes on! I'm 42
My job has now fallen apart as we have to fill in electronic times sheets. I forget to fill them in and sometimes i can be as much as 2 months behind. I then fill them in to the best of my ability but have now been caught out because I have filled them in saying i was at work when i wasn't. I don't know when the times or dates are yet as I am waiting for a disciplinary.
Both my daughters are dyspraxic and were lucky to be diagnosed at school and uni. I spoke to one daughter and she asked me why I have never tried to get a diagnosis? the answer is, I don't know where to go and ask and I haven't got the courage to ask anyone.
I have really bad organisational skills, I rarely finish one task before going onto something else or I forget what I'm doing in the middle of it. My typing is terrible, thank goodness for spell check!
I appear very confident and intelligent. I have the knowledge but the confidence is a pretence. I am facing the sack as they say i filled in the time sheets falsely deliberately. I also suffer from depression. Everything takes twice as long for me to do than anyone else.
I suppose what I am asking, after rambling on, is what now? what should I do?
Dyspraxia has finally caught up with me at work!

Please, please visit your GP and try to get some help. You could always approach the Dyslexia Society (many dyspraxics are also dyslexic) Please also see an employment lawyer, or visit a Citizens Advice Bureau who may be able to assist. I'm fortunate that I have been diagnosed and don't have to check time sheets at work because of this. I do fill mine in on a daily basis and my boss checks it once a week.If you are in a union get help from them immediately. Fight this.

When you visit your GP ask to be reffered to a psychologist with educational or occupational therapy training . These are the only people who can do a legal diagnosis .
You can also get a private diagnosis from clinics (if your in London Indpendent Dyslexia Consultants are v good )http://www.dyslexia-idc.org/
Also its considered best practice for a company to pay part all or of the cost of your test (not essential so speak to your HR team).
There is a strong gentic link so if your kid's are its v likley you are as well . Do get diagnosed that is your first step (private is of course quicker then the others). And teh only way you can be protected under law .
