I have a job 2

Post by Philip »

I am starting a work prep/placement on Monday - It was arranaged by the DEA at the job centre - but I will be still entitled to signing on since I will not be getting paid and this was set up by the job centre for me :-k

It is a 30 day placement (but it could be less) - I can do as many days as I want per week.

One of my DEA advisor has spoken to this person at the company about the things I am anxious with and there will get round this =D>

Now I have had my first day at placement I know more about - it is up to a 30 day placement (depends of how things go) - I can do how many days I want per week and finished between 3pm to 4pm

This person says that everyone deserves given a chance to work no matter whether you have a disability/disabilties or not, whether you have any weaknesses and things you struggled with, which are prevent you for getting a job in the type of work you are looking at

I will be inputting data into Excel and some Access work

I will get some help with quite a few things at this placement or be passed on to someone else who helps out

Tips and hints on how to improved my CV

Tips on how to write a decent covering letter when applying for jobs in the future

The best CV tip I've come across is to do some research into what your potential employer is looking for.

A few years ago there was a study where they asked people to list what they felt were the top 10 traits that employers were looking for. The overlap between the items on employees lists and employers lists was only 2 items - experience and motivation.

Top of the employers lists (and this is probably still true today) was initiative. Anything that demonstrates that when faced with an unexpected problem you can quickly generate an effective solution on your own is CV-gold.

As my work placement/prep is wrap out next week -

The person who sorted me out with this placement is coming to see me at the centre and to talked to the centre manager to see what will happen next.

The placement was okay - I picked up a little bit of experience using frontpage. - I got my CV tidy up.

My placement is now finished (10th July) I will not be took on due to a few things out of my control - but if things change I might be able to work there again part time if I want to.

I am now waiting to hear back from my DEA Advisor about whether he can fixed me up on another placement, or find some part-time work in IT

I am using this time wisely by doing MOS courses as well as doing a job search and applying for jobs and keep the jc happy

Things are pretty much the same as there were last time - but may find out more on Tuesday as he will probably got in touch with my DEA advisor

At the moment the job search is coming along slowly - I applied for a job last month but I am unsure whether I would have an interview or not with the company since the email address I was given was bounced back -

I am still doing the Microsoft Office Specialist courses at college to hopefully increased my chances of getting an interview at a company/employment agency or be put forward by the employment agency

I am hoping that I am ready to do the 'live' exam on-line for MOS PowerPoint by the end of this month or early October =D>

I now know I will not be working at the company where I did my placement - due to things out of my control

I will carry on with Microsodt Office Specialist PowerPoint - which I will have another attempt at doing the exam in October and this time hopefully I will pass :)

I am looking forward to doing the MOS Access course since after that I will have completed one whole block then I have word and excel expect to do before becoming a master then who knows what IT course the IT College would suggestion if I am not in work still

I had an appointment today at one of the leading training companies/employment agencies in the country - by X

By the sounds of it but will know more when I signed on in two weeks time that it is a 13 week course (or less) but I will able to pull out of it if I do not think it is working or does not appeal to me - I may get put another placement depend if there can find a suitable company

I think it 30 hours training per week in centre or may be able to less hours due to my other studies to try and gained employment (4 days) may be less. but will more next time I signed on

My college course which I am doing at the moment I will carry on and finished MOS PowerPoint and possibly put off my next course to early 2007

It seems I am going around swings and roundabouts at the moment - but I am not getting my hopes up to much (after reading about something in one of the Sunday's paper what I about to start at the end of October)

Hi - update

It is a training provider I at - doing more job searching

For the last three days we be looking through yellow pages for companies where we would like to do our placement out

I am not sure whether the tutor for our group understand what dyspraxia is and I have not had much joy so far - so my records have been put separate to the advisors/head tutor can have a more carefully think about it about my case

I may be moved to another group so I can focus more on the lit and a bit more on num (even though I got a C in GCSE) and do some job searching but the limit I need to do - but waiting for the head tutor to get back after the tutor for our group had a word with him :)

I have applied for two jobs outside the network of the training provider of my own back, which seems okay - one is with an agency so I am unsure whether the company which has been advertised I might be sent there - might not be suitable

The other company is a data inputting of some description and would probably suited me better

Hope I have not bored anyone from reading this

I have done my first week at the training provider :)

Still no news about any possibly placements (no job) what I wrote down from my job wish list and will probably take longer to sort me out with something

One sector of the job world has now been dropped now as the tutor/job coach has probably understand and she has probably done some research or asked one the advisors or someone higher up at the training provider on dyspraxia

I do not think I be moved to another group since I pass both my literacy 15/20 and numeracy 18/20 but probably get more one to one next week once the new starters for this week
