Rant of the week!

Postby Tom fod » Thu Nov 16, 2017 12:07 am

So some people seem to be complaining about John Lewis' ad featuring Moz the Monster!

Yes we're barely halfway through November and yes of course it's commercialising Christmas but I still like it and don't care a jot about the ethnic mix of the actors portraying the family, which seems to have brought out quite a few trolls,

I did find the Daily Mash's spoof about Moz having devoured five child actors during filming funny though!

I'm not a fan of The Daily Mail, personally, but I do admit some of their skits can be amusing. I'm a fan of Have I Got News For You though. That stuff's great.

Trump is infuriating, yes. I find that every morning, I wake up to some new depressing news about American politics. I don't just focus on the Executive Branch though. I wish the media talked more about state politics, because in Missouri, the vote to ban marriage with people under 14 years old only passed with 95-50, with 48 of those voting against being... you guessed it! Republicans. They speak of 'family values', yet they take away the money for disabled children and want to marry kids too. It's just unthinkable. Still, I suppose the fact the ban happened is good, even if extremely late.

It almost feels as if Republicans in America only care about a child when it's in the womb, because they don't like women getting birth control for free, they despise abortions, but they also seem to run a campaign against the child as soon as it's born.

The Rupublicans in my country are about money and lobbies. In the South, the Republicans are so called "Christians" (or at least that's how they identify) these people are backward and their world is very small. All they do is go to church related activities---3-4 x weekly and judge the rest of us (Americans). They are a powerful lobby. All they care about is abortion and an attempt to turn the US into a theocracy. They would be in favor of marriage for kids under 14 because in the event that a 13 yr. should , God forbid, become pregnant then the parents would force them to marry, commonly called a 'shot gun wedding.' Southern Americans in 'The Bible Belt' are all republican and are willing to sacrifice the entire country with the hope of one day making abortion illegal again. This is how Trump got elected. They also had support of racists and the Catholic Church which is also insane about trying to make abortion illegal again, at any cost.
The rest of us are literally sick about this, because we, as a nation, have not been so polarized since The Civil War. Many of us are truly afraid that with an idiot like Trump in The White House, with the nuclear codes at his finger tips, the whole world is in danger. Many people have even considered emigrating over this. It is very sad.
If the principles of Systems Theory and my instincts are correct, the next election, I believe, will be the most frenzied in history. I believe that the numbers of Democrats will be overwhelming. I also believe we oust Trump in that election. But I also believe their will be an overwhelming increase in violence. It's very frightening, especially since we have to endure this idiot in The White House for another three years.
