I like basically everything except heavy metal, hardcore rap, and the old twangy country.

Here are some of my favorite genres (in no order) with at least one of my favorite artists next to them:

Alternative: The Fray, Hanson, Blink-182, Simple Plan, All-American Rejects, Green Day

Classic Rock: Bruce Springsteen, Don Henley, Tom Petty, John Mellencamp (aka John Cougar Mellencamp), Elton John, The Beach Boys, The Eagles, some Tina Turner and Stevie Wonder--These were people I grew up listening to because my parents listened to them and I just happen to like them too!

80s and 90s people: Sheryl Crow (most of her songs I like are in the 90s), Madonna, Styx, Queen, and more.

Rock: Nickelback, Gwen Stefani, Coldplay, can't think of more right now.

Pop: Off of the top of my head: Jesse McCartney, Justin Timberlake, can't think of more yet.

Rap/R&B: Usher, Pussy Cat Dolls, many more and I'm drawing a blank.

Punk: probably only Green Day or someone like them.

Country: Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Dixie Chicks, Rascal Flatts, selected songs by other people/groups.

Christian Rock/Gospel: Pretty much random songs by a lot of different people, but here are some of my favs: Newsboys, Casting Crowns, Amy Grant, Chris Tomlin, Mark Schultz, Michael W. Smith, Shawn Groves, Brian Littrell (same one who is in The Backstreet Boys--devout Christian), Rebecca St. James, Jeremy Camp, Todd Agnew, Aaron Shust, Mitch McVicker, Geoff Moore, Matthew West. Wow, I thought up a lot that time just off the top of my head!

Musical/Soundtrack: Wicked Original Broadway Cast Recording (actually saw this show in Chicago--It ROCKS!), Annie Original Broadway Cast Recording, Anastasia: music from the motion picture, Tarzan soundtrack, The Parent Trap (1998) soundtrack, Chicago: original motion picture soundtrack, Moulin Rouge soundtrack, music from the tv movie Polly that I wish they'd put on cd, can't think of the rest.

Okay, I'm done. I love music, can't you tell?

Hi Gwhizz, I might just try your show if I am in my flat, instead of seeing my parent's one Thursday.

p.s. don't do a phone in show if I do, unless you are fully awake, and ready for a response from me!! the last radio presenter wasn't ready for a silly answer out of me! and nearly ended up spitting his drink down the phone to me!!

as for myself, then I just dabble with dj'ing, to pass the time, and it is a lot easier seen as I don't have to mess around setting up tapes, and sorting records into play orders, compared to when I started messing around, now I just need 1 pc, and my Tascam US-428.

but even though I have had the Tascam for 3 years, it hasn't been switched on that much, due to my mixing days on hold, with a slow pc. maybe when I upgrade my motherboards on both pc's, I will turn it back on, and let the music play!!

but the last few years has mainly been to do with creating, rather than mixing songs together.

like created a song like "i know a song that will get on your nerves"!! but never made the uk top 40!! maybe if I had released it, then it would make number 1!!

I love practically anything, but especially piano-, acoustic guitar or electric guitar (although not too heavy - The Foos are kind of my limit!) based stuff - it depends what mood I'm in - some days I'll just listen to one of the three! My music taste at the moment stretches from a lot of modern American music, to my parents' 60s and 70s collection, to a strange liking for 80s synth pop I've found...

I'm VERY into my music. Very diverse tastes- everything from latest chart music to 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's & 90's music. Rock, pop, dance, trance, dubstep, bossa nova etc, you name it i'm into it (apart from Rap/Hip Hop/R&B- never got into those genres that much, only a few artists/songs i like from that sort of music) . Also music from other countries- i'm VERY into my Japanese music (modern), S.Korean and more recently Indian & Mexican.

For all you not familiar with the Asian stuff, here's some of the Japanese music i listen to;

Capsule- they are an incredibly diverse duo in terms of style of music and have been going for many years. They everything from French pop, bossa nova, lounge, house, and recently synthpop and electronica.
Some Capsule tracks;

Retro Memory (French pop, fun little tune ^_^v );

Feelin' Alright (their most recent single);

In The Rain (more Synthpop, this is a very new track);

The Music (epic track, Electropop, got all sorts of styles in it);

Tic Tac (short Bossa Nova style track); ... re=related

Then there is Hello! Project, which is a music company in Japan that manages many girls groups. I'm into pretty much everything Hello! Project, here's a taste of some of the groups;

Morning Musume (the leading group of the company, the one that started it all- the line-up is ever changing though through a unique system of graduations & auditions);

Morning Coffee (1998);

LOVE Machine (1999);

Souda! We're Alive (2002);

Kanashimi Twilight (2007);

Shouganai Yume Oibito (2009);

Onna to Otoko no Lullaby Game (2010);

Only You (2011);

One・Two・Three (2012);

Latest single: Wakuteka Take a chance (2012.10.10);

All in all, Morning Musume have released 51 singles so far and have been going strong since 1997 ^_^v .

Some other Hello! Project group music samples;

C-ute (2007 - ongoing) (They started off as kids but they are now all adults or in their late teens)

Tokaikko Junjou (2007, their most controversial single);

Aitai Lonely Christmas (2010);

Aitai Aitai Aitai na (2012.09.05);

C-ute singles so far: 19

Berryz Kobo (2004 -ongoing) (like C-ute they started off as kids but they are now all adults or near-adults);

Special Generation (2005, their most controversial single);

Dschinghis Khan (2008);

Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda! (2010);

Loving You Too Much (2012);

Berryz singles so far: 30

S/mileage (2010- ongoing) are the newest group to form (there have been some members lost & added though);

Yume Miru 15sai (2010, debut single);

Uchouten LOVE (2011);

Please Miniskirt Postwoman! (2011);

Samui ne (2012.11.28, latest single, very different style to their usual hyper kawaii/genki/upbeat stuff);

S/mileage singles so far: 12

Buono!(2007 - ongoing) H!P's very own Rock/Punk trio (made of up C-ute & Berryz Kobo members);

Gachinko de Ikou! (2008);

Bravo☆Bravo (2009);

Our Songs (2010);

Hatsukoi Cider (2012);

Buono! singles so far: 13

Mano Erina (2009- ongoing) (one of H!P's soloists);

Haru no Arashi (2010);

My Days for You (2011);

Doki Doki Baby (2012); ... =endscreen

Tasogare Kousaten (2012); ... hEoxk&NR=1

Song for the DATE (2012)

Mano Erina singles so far: 13

More Hello! Project info (there are so many other groups & soloists etc in it!):!_Project

I'm into many other jpop & jrock groups (H!P & non-H!P) and like the western music both old & new, and this isn't even starting on the kpop stuff :P .

Rock and Roll !! Wooo! :) .

Everything from Eric Clapton and Led Zepplin through AC/DC and Motorhead to Rammstein and NIN.
I can listen to most things as long as it has lyrics I can understand and isn't squeaky and/or really repetitive.

P.s Lemmy is God :) .

When I was younger I listen to quiet dark and oisy music like birthday party or black flag. But I breaking noisy music make my dysparxia whorst. Now I listen to mostly instrumental relaxing music, like Broan Eno, Orbital, Phillip Glass , Jazz and loffi instrumental hip hop. This kind of music give me feelings of security and stability what I need.
