Movie characters who might be dyspraxic
OK - here's one for for fun for all you knowledgeable dyspraxics. Which characters in any film might be dyspraxic, deliberately or otherwise?
For starters I'll suggest Danny Olsen in Local Hero, played by Peter Capaldi on his debut. Given that this film is 30 odd years old, deliberate I think not ...

Re: Movie characters who might be dyspraxic
I've never seen Local Hero, but I do want to watch it.
There only two movie/TV characters that I can think of. I think I mentioned these on another thread.
a) John Cox (aka Animal) in Good and Bad at Games.
b) Dr Tony Hill in the TV series Wire in the Blood.
I'm certainly going to be on the look out for more.

I honestly have no idea.
I do though have a great idea for a movie title.
Dyspraxic Me.
Just think of the mayhem the minions would get up to

It's a classic Ram - a typical Bill Forsyth film i e warm / funny. An oldie but highly recommended.Ram wrote:I've never seen Local Hero, but I do want to watch it.
I honestly thought that existed, but must have been wishful thinking on my part ;-)J i m wrote:I do though have a great idea for a movie title.

I'll have to speak for the girls and nominate Bridget Jones! I always saw so much of myself, especially when I was younger, especially when she ends up serving her guests blue soup! She seems to trip up a lot and get in a muddle, but her friends still love her.
I think we all need a Mr Darcy to toast "Bridget, just as she is!"

The TV Detective Columbo. The way he keeps thinking of 'just one more thing' to ask the suspect

Re: Movie characters who might be dyspraxic
There is an American series called 'Atypical,' about neurodiversity and sensitivity to it. It is a comedy but does not sell out the characters with insulting cheap jokes at the main character's expense.
Re: Movie characters who might be dyspraxic
I've also seen some of Atypical. The actor in that was in a rare gem of a horror film called It Follows, so I respect his latitude in terms of performances. I would almost consider C3PO Dyspraxic, but he's a robot, so probably doesn't count. I'm really not sure, beyond that. It's difficult, because protagonists are so often perfect in every conceivable way, so it makes it more complicated to come up with an answer.
I'll have a think about it and get back to you if I think of one, assuming I don't forget I posted here, which I probably will.

Re: Movie characters who might be dyspraxic
I thought about this earlier, I always found Neville Longbottom (Harry Potter) to have dyspraxic traits (falling off the broom, losing his toad a lot and forgetting things) however I might be wrong
Re: Movie characters who might be dyspraxic
Not forgetting that Harry aka Daniel Radcliffe actually has dyspraxia

There is also that, however his character (to the best of my knowledge) doesn’t appear to have any symptoms of it.
Re: Movie characters who might be dyspraxic
I guess if I were an actor I would be want to be seen for my abilities and would pobably seek roles far removed from my 'normality'
