Research for a project (Formally Requested)

Post by AB07 »

Hi Everyone,
I am doing some research for a GCSE school project and it would be incredibly helpful if someone (or a few people) would be able to answer a few of my questions.
1) Age?
2) Gender?
3) Do you find you have problems with hand-eye coordination?
4) What other problems do you find you experience?
5) Do you often spill things?
6) Would you find that a cup/glass that wouldn’t spill if it were tipped over helpful?
7) What style of products do you prefer? Eg. angular, smooth, minimalist etc.
8) What is/are your favourite colours?
9) What style of materials do you prefer? Eg. wood or plastic
10) What have you found that you succeed at?
11) What are the good things that DCD can provide you with?

Many thanks in advance,
Amelie :)

1. 69
2. M
3. Sometimes but not always
4. Mostly connected with memory forgetting what I am doing as I am doing it - like looking for my spectacles, even though I am holding them already.
5. It all dpends what is meant by "often" - but I suppose I do and especially notice it when I am spooning tea leaves into a small teapot.
6. Possibly, if I reemembered to use it - spilling and tripping are not most important but it is the thinking stuff that matters most - Deevlopmental Dyspraxia is better termed DCD - Devevelopmental Coordination Disorder. - Coordination is the operative word because all human activity and THOUGHT is coordinated by the brain so dyspraxia has an all pervasive impact on my life

(shame you did not ask about the the good things that dyspraxia provides)

1) Age? 43

2) Gender? M

3) Do you find you have problems with hand-eye coordination? Yes inc visual tracking

4) What other problems do you find you experience? Also visually impaired (not registered blind/partially sighted) Lower confidence, Anxiety

5) Do you often spill things? Generally try to be careful but if stressed or in a rush yes.

6) Would you find that a cup/glass that wouldn’t spill if it were tipped over helpful? Have thought about such a product but too stingy to fork out best part of £20 for a Mighty Mug so just try to be careful. Doesn't work all of the time.

7) What style of products do you prefer? Eg. angular, smooth, minimalist etc.
Practical /conventional robust

8) What is/are your favourite colours? Green Black or Flecktarn Camo

9) What style of materials do you prefer? Eg. wood or plastic Depends on product/purpose
Anodised aluminium plastic wood ideally recycled/sustainable

10) What have you found that you succeed at?
Pretty determimed so find ways to achieve most things I'm physically and theoretically capable of.

11) What are the good things that DCD can provide you with?
Different and often unique approach to problems. Big picture thinking. Empathetic and caring.

1) Age 35
2)Gender M
3)Yes, I have a tendency to flail at things, racquet sports are a nightmare.
4) Conveying emotions, speaking concisely on complex topics (especially when I need to answer on the fly), taking things literally (this has caused difficulties when dating in the past, but has improved with experience and using strategies).
5)Yes
6)Yes, never thought such a thing existed.
7)Practical things with logical purpose.
8)Dark earthy colours
9)Depends on the purpose of the object. The most practical for the task. For tactile things I don't like the feel of plastic.
10)Problem solving, creative writing, succeeding in difficult circumstances, seeing connections between intangible things (I'm a social researcher ).
11) Empathetic, seeing the big picture, finding alternative solutions to problems.
