How do you read things with lots of long words?

Post by Hachi »

This is something I struggle with. Things that use lots of long words in a row; or use comple terms to explain other complex terms.

Its like it interrupts my processing. I can deal with step by step, I can deal with building knowledge, I can deal with explaining long words and complex terms by using simpler concepts and shorter words. But I just *can't* understand how (or why?) people would explain something complex using something else complex.

I think its to do with the processing-complex-instructions I know some of us struggle with. I find myself having to like, internally translate the words/terms as I'm reading, so I'll read the word and then also say in my head 'which means *simpler term*'. But if all the words are long this gets really tiring and I can lose track of what the original meanings were or what each word means.

Anyone else have something similar? Cheers
