Hi Tim and welcome. I hope you find the site/community useful and a supportive/inspirational oasis of calm in a world of madness.

Are you with the NHS and If you feel comfortable answering, how would you rate them in their provision of support?

I am currently 50% in university and 50% in Hospital (NHS)
Some of the hospital seems quite supportive but others seem like they don't really care.
I am lucky as I am still at Uni that the uni provides support whilst at the hospital.

I know that a number of yrs ago now the RCN produced a booklet about supporting employees with Dyslexia Dyspraxia.
I think it also often comes down to how patient and supportive your manager and colleagues are.

I actually have now read the booklet what is now classed as past review date. I have contacted the RCN about it and they said they are not going to update is unfounatlty as they don't see a need for the booklet as advice can be gain elsewhere what made me feel a bit annoyed as they are the union to support nurses,

You could ask them where to access the new updated advice. I live close to an NHS trust in Gloucester and believe your Occ Health are called Working Well? May be worthwhile seeing what they might offer?

Hi, I’m Tracey. I have never had a formal diagnosis of Dyspraxia, but there is no doubt that I have it. I was a late entrant to the teaching profession in my late 30s, initially teaching History, then moving into Special Needs. It was here, as a qualified specialist teacher of dyslexic students, that I realised my difficulties had a name!

All those years of being last to get changed after P.E, dragging my socks up my wet legs after school swimming lessons, because I was last out, AGAIN! Playtimes at high school lost, as I never got finished in time during domestic science; being put in a low set for English, when I am in the top 1% of the population for various English skills, just because my writing was a mess. Left handed and dyspraxic... I quickly realised I needed to be a survivor, because life was unlikely to give me an easy ride, haha!

And then, to help me become a bit more ‘special’ I developed MS.

Would love to hear from some of you. Great to be here 😊 xx
