Hi everyone I'm new

Post by allesandro »

Hi, my name is allesandro and I'm new to this. I just recently found out I'm dyspraxic after having been misdiagnosed as ADHD. I'm sure I have some some of that however I think that is a comorbidity associated with not having ever been properly diagnosed. In the US most people have never even heard of dyspraxia. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I have this and how many questions this answers. I'm really thankful I found this site.

Glad you've found us too. I ''ve seen it suggested that 50% have ADHD. I guess I have traits of ADHD but no formal diagnosis as not pursued/deemed appropriate in my case.

I was under the impression Dyspraxia was more generally recognised as DCD in the US but I guess the notion that you can therefore 'grow out of it' means recognition and support are just not there 8-(
