Hi everyone,
Ive just recently turned 18 and am struggling with life a bit. My life has always been a struggle but recently Ive had a bit of a breakdown because of trying to ajust to a working life, and Ive now had to leave the job I was in because of the lack of support or any understanding.
I feel suffocated in my life and I miss the security I had at school, I feel lost and alone and I don't like being an adult, it feels as if everything has been taken away from me and no one understands. I feel like Ive lost everything.
I hope this forum will help me, so hey to you all and its nice meeting you.
Hi there :)

Re: Hi there :)
Hello.
I think many here will be able to relate to much of what you said in your post and have experienced the same frustrations. Many of us here have very probably been close to melting down (and breakdowns) from the sheer strain of trying to cope in a world which is largely oblivious to our difficulties.
I have more than decade of life experience over you and unfortunately I can tell you that it never gets easier, it only ever remains the same or worse actually gets harder. But you will harden to it, you will develop coping mechanisms and strategies.
I know only too well how difficult it is compete academically with people who haven't got the disadvantages a learning difference brings, I am acutely aware of how difficult it is to choose a environment which suits you and how extremely difficult it is to then gain a job. I also know how damaging it is to your confidence and help when the work environment conspires to touch on all of your trigger points.
But remember being Dyspraxic does not somehow make us inferior people, we all have a talent to share and a place to find. The trick is finding your talent and environment which is right for you. There will always be people who don't understand you and who are intolerant of your "quirks", these people aren't worth dealing with and it is them who ultimately have a bigger problem because they'll never be able to widen their perspectives.
That's one thing dyspraxia does for you. Once you understand how it affects you and the difficulties it causes you, your perspective will widen and you'll be able to see things and consider solutions that are simply not visible to "normal" people.

Adult life might not be great - but it beats being a kid, I reckon
