Hello Fellow Dyspraxics

Post by catwoman »

Hi there!
those of those who dont know me or havent guessed my identity Im Janet Taylor co-ordinator of Greater Manchester dyspraxia Adult Action.
After years of hiding my diversity because society encourages us to conform. I was diagnosed with dyspraxia when I was 33 but did not take much notice until I was 40 after being medically retired from my job. I then set up the Manchester dyspraxia group and now have set up my own dyspraxia awarness business and have got some work with the shaw Trust. It is ironic that I have become a profesional dyspraxic and tell large audiences about my difficulties instead of hiding them.

Hi Ruth,
After raising awareness for the manchester group for 5 years I have stated my own business and have got 2 X 4 hour workshops for the Shaw Trust on dyspraxia inclusion in the work place one in London & one in Middlesborough. Both are full and there is a demand for more.
I am hoping to get a wider coustomer base and on Thursday there is a jiobs fair for disabled people at Manchester town hall where Im setting up a display for the Manchester group and promoting my business at the same time.

Hi Janet - how do you rememebr you are 2 different names? I tried beign Smith-of-wotton-major once ( my favourite book) but couldn't do it!

just been and had a look at your web site. It looks great! I would bery much like to know what sort of provisions I could reasonably ask of my to be employers - I have a student placement which starts in September - Mary Coley sent out a questionare about provision for the work place but of course I've deleted it. Would I need to contact you professionaly in which case what should I say?

Hi Ruth!
Im sure I wil get confused with having 2 names. Do you mean Catwoman & Janet Taylor or dyspraxia adult action and dyspraxia inclusive training?
I still give free advice to other dyspraxics. I only expect large companies to pay for awareness raising and advice in the workplace not individuals who live with dyspraxia.
What is your pacement to give me something to go on?.
