Helloooooooo!!!!!!!!!

Post by lgrillo »

Hello Everyone
My name is Laura and I am a diagnosed dyspraxia and Dyslexic. I was born in New York but brought up in the UK as my mother is British.
At the moment I am doing an MA in Contemporary Film practice in Plymouth University. I am really enjoying myself (actually I should be getting on with documentation now!)
I have trouble with organizing myself but learning to deal with it as best I can. I love films, comedy and writing. I am particularly interested in the absurd.
It is amazing that this forum exists as not a lot of people understand dyspraxia- often they think we are just being lazy when that is not the case at all. When I was younger I used to be very timid and embarrassed about my disabilities. (I also had one leg shorter than the other)
Sometimes I am still embarrassed but I kind of got over it as this is who I am. I talk slightly strange. I am not stupid. It just takes me longer to learn than other people.
Well hello hello.
Oh I can also ride a horse.
Yes and I am doing an MA. Mr. Educational Psychologist who said I would never get into University. (O.K. it’s Plymouth but it is still a University lol)
;0)

Hi, Laura, welcome to the forum. I'm probably the oldest member here (55!!!) and only heard of the condition a few years ago. I've never been officially diagnosed but reading up on it I now know I am midly dyspraxic as is one of my sisters, one brother and my late mother. Wish they'd known a lot more about it back when I was at school but at least it's getting a little more known nowadays and places like this forum help. :)
