Hello All

My name is Ellana, I am 24 years of age and I have had mild dyspraxia since I was two. I have been to many schools including a special educational needs school which I hated, a state comprehensive high school which was the best and two mainstream colleges I am currently with the Open University and I have recently completed a Cert HE in Health and Social Care alongside an Access to Health and Social Care (A-levels) and two jobs. That was all in 2009, then in 2010, I stayed with the Open University kept one of jobs and then in March 2010 I got my next job at Inclusive Communication Essex and I'm still doing well.

Healthwise, I have been okay for last 23 years, but I have suffered from a number of viral infections, stomach bugs and a chronic stomach/rib pain that stops me front eating normally. I can just about eat one normal meal a day without feeling poorly. So I have to eat really lightly like an OAP. It also effects my energy and because I'm an insomniac I don't get consistent sleep. So I don't wake up feeling refreshed in the morning.

As for music, I love R&B, Hip-Hop and Dance music. I am not keen on heavy rock for obvious reasons. As for tv I love love dramas, soaps and documentaries and I also love dance and singing competitions. But I'm afraid I only watch Xfactor/BGT for talent. I'm like take it seriously, it's not a karoke or "how to be the best wedding dancer?" I also like some comedy but I can be rather selective..

I also love cycling, writing letters, watching movies, listening to music and reading and I'm currently writing to lots of youngsters with disabilities/illnesses on http://www.postpals.co.uk

Please feel add me on msn and yahoo or add me via twitter! https://twitter.com/elliephant86 and I'm on facebook as well at http://www.facebook.com/ellanachughtai

Hello and welcome :)

Is the OU any good with regards to support for students and talking to tutors about problems? I keep looking at the OU to try and finish my degree but everytime I go through the prospectus and ring them to sort it out, they tell me the module I want is being dropped or replaced but I can get credit for my work i have allready done so I am keeping on (although housemoves and children are taking up my time at the moment).

When i phoned them they we're very supportive and said they had a good support structure in place ? You can go to various centres and they do one to one stuff ?

The ou i find are really supportive for people with dyspraxia and also very ideal if you need extra time to learn a specific module or block.
