Hi and welcome

There a couple of options:
Take a friend or partner with you for moral support or to speak for you if you get tongue tied
Write a short list of key points of areas that you struggle with and the outcome you are seeking so you can hand this over if words fail you. Not all doctors will be familiar with the condition and there may not be many places where (s)he can refer you for diagnosis or specific assistance so you may be referred to your community mental health team.

If you’re in full time education or working it may be worth asking your college of HR Tean. If you’re not currently working it may be worth broaching with staf at local Jobcentre.

I've moved this Post into Getting Help and Assessment. It is worth a trawl through other posts in this topic area.

I don't know what it's like in the UK, but I don't think the drs. in the US would even care. I was told , "well it's a little too late to be worried about it now," by an insensitive p**** of a psychiatrist. I felt such a prat. (just learned that expression) Definitely, bring someone with you. Drs. are far less likely to appear insensitive when there is a witness. Also, write key points on index cards.
