Last week I threw away a ring pull tin of scallops because after being unable to pull the ring pull back I resorted in vain to trying to open it with a kitchen knife. That lead me to looking for a gadget to help.

So much for buying ****ing kitchen aids . Really frustrated . Got my gadget yesterday and tried it. Could only pull the ring pull back a tiny bit so the contents juices were seeping from the side of the tin. Ended up throwing it in the bin with frustration after trying to stab it open with a knife.. Still I know now not to buy John West tins of scallops and of squid as I can't bloody open them !

Re: Ring pulls
I have the 5 in 1 opener

Another tip is to put the tin on a dampened cloth on your work surface so it does not slide around.
Before I have resorted to the tin opener or items from my tool box

Re: Ring pulls
I looked at that Tom . I can't see how you'd open pull tabs with it.
Re: Ring pulls
In the handle which there tapers down there is a slot which you can use to fit over around the ring and lever it up. Pulling lid off part needs a video really to explain how
It is still a two handed operation to hold down tin whilst you remove its lid to access stuff inside without spilling or cutting yourself

Re: Ring pulls
Thanks for the explanation. Sounds too difficult for me.
