I'm having a series of repeated eye infections at thte moment and a corneal abrasionon my right eye that gets enflamed and wow that's painful.

Was at A&E over the weekend, but got referred to an eye specialist for yesterday, and she seemed to think (peering at my lenses) that my spectacle prescription is for long-sightedness, which makes no sense to me I thought I was short-sighted!

I have found my sight go from perfect to quite bad in the space of a year. My hearing though has always been very good. I can hear sound, but not always make out a conversation form a way away. I can hear ambulances and things long before my parents.

i have two coke bottles set into frames over my eyes, but bat-like hearing, though one ear isn't as good as the other. i tend to favour my right ear as i can't filter sound as well through the left. suppose it explains why i make people walk on my right...

My eyesight is fairly ok. I'm long sighted with an astigmatism in one eye and short sighted in the other. Glasses don't correct the problem fully though. I'm hoping to get irlen lenses funded before starting masters next year which will hopefully do more. My is generally fine although I have some problem with my ears that means I get tinnitus and some hearing loss when I have a cold or hayfever. I tend to lip read in crowded/noisy situations as I'm not very good at filtering out sounds.

My eyes are fine but my ears aren't. I never had mumps til I was twenty five n halfway through suffering with it I woke up one morning went to go to the loo and puked as soon as i stood up n realised i couldnt hear out the o e side. GP I saw said it was probably just blocked n give me a script for sudefed or something saying it would unblock it. It didn't so went back a few times n they said they would do a hearing test. Though I don't know why, as I cant hear a thing out of it, all that's there is tinitus!

They sent me to a ENT who sent me for an MRI just to make sure I had no tumour pressing on the audio nerve, and there wasn't. Just said it was the mumps that destroyed the hearing on that side completely. In turn the mumps, though some years ago now is thought to be the reason I have Menieres Disease which is causing vertigo and vomitting and the hearing in my other ear fluctuates now too! Scares me because if that ear goes I won't be hearing nothing but tinitus and I don't know sign language or how to lip read n no one has offered so I'd be stuck :(

I've been really stressed and my tinitus has gotten much worse. It's deafening now particularly when I'm trying to get to sleep

I'm shortsighted too but good news....have decided that can#t control what is going to happen in 2 years time ....sure I might win the lotto or get hit by a bus! so I've decided to chill out until then....so tinitus is back to normal.

I've got a bit of a squint. I had an eye operation when I was 1 to correct it and have wore glasses since being 6. I am short sighted. My eye sight is ok with glasses on, but can't see without them, and if I focus to see it hurts my eyes, but I wear glasses all the time. If im walking down the street, I can't make out peoples faces untill they get a bit closer to me (that might not be that helpfull seein's though that could be like that for everyone, and I can't say how far exactly because I have no idea how far a yard is etc). Same with street signs. Also if im travelling in the car, I can't see what they say in time because the car is going to fast for me, even if its not that fast if that makes sense...

Hearing however, I am ok if there isn't any background noise. For example, at work the radio is on in the kitchen and if im at the other side of the room and someone's talking to me, I can't tell what they are saying properly, or if someone is facing away from me. I say parden a lot and people think I'm deaf. I don't think I am, I just have difficulty distinguish different tones. If I'm out and about and I'm walking, say with my mum and sister, mum is stood next to me and sister on the other side of my mum, I can't quite hear what she is saying. I am generally ok otherwise, like at home or whatever.

^ I had an eye operation when I was around 1, as well. I had astigmatism (funnily enough only recently learnt that is the word for what I had/got!). So one of my eyes is quite lazy and prone to giving me eye strain, sometimes developing into headaches. The hearing in one ear is damaged, possibly from birth, so my hearing isn't 100% either. So yeah... not great for my dyspraxic traits! These problems have probably fused together in the years, like poor coordination due to early eye problems AND dyspraxia - confusing! Guess my best sense is my sense of smell?
Hopefully not making too many moot points... heh... *ahem* :D
