Help with moving out

Post by mmayat »

I am getting my own place for first, any advice with sorting out stuff, connecting to electric, gas, applying for working tax credit, how council tax work, setting up Freeview, connecting gas cooker, washing machine and getting broadband (thinking of getting unlimited talk talk) :ball: :)

Congratulations
Find and take meter readings before you start. I believe you need to start by calling the supplier who last supplied the property.
You may also need to contact your Water/sewerage provider but in some cases if you're in a block of flats this might be part of the service charge.

Not 100 per cent here but If there is not a hob/oven connected you may need to find a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Washing machine. Should say in machines instructions. Have some hose washers to hand

Freeview connect tv n re run set up. Don't forget TV licence

Council tax. Contact your local district or borough council.

Working Tax credit call HMRC or Directgov.

I'm afraid I've heard bad things re Talk Talk n their customer service. Remember with any provider you need to reckon in line rental.

Hi

I'm not anywhere near Blackburn and don't really have any experience or knowledge of who this company are or how they work. Best I can suggest is to give them another call Monday and politely ask them for a status update. Is the place you wanted to view still being built and could completion have been delayed or have they got tenants that have not yet vacated the property?

Finding and getting the arrangements sorted for moving always takes a long time it's a pain but a fact of life.
