I'm having my needs assessment on Friday, and I'm still not completely sure what I'm entitled to.
I know i can get a laptop, specialist stationery, and a dictophone. I'm also going to see if i can get a smartphone as i dont have one, and it would be useful for setting reminders, alarms, notes, etc, and also driving lessons, as I have to travel to uni daily, and i get anxious on public transport and would like to be able to drive myself there.
Does anyone know of anything else it's worth asking for?
What can I get from a needs assessment?

Hi
There's no harm asking but I think that they are unlikely to agree to anything that is not directly related to your studies or would constitute a taxable nenefit were they an employer. Generally speaking it is considered your own personal responsibility to get up in time and arrive at lectures at the required time. That said I"m not aware of your full circumstances.
They might run to a laptop/software and will quite likely/hopefully reccomend a mentor or additional tutor support.
Remember a needs assessment is a recommendation only and provision may not be the same as recommended

Hi
Great to hear you've got some useful stuff
I think the 'specialist stationery' means this kind of thing (I use these myself):

All the best,

Unfortunately I couldn't get a laptop even though my disability assessment recommended i,t something to do with the fact that I was doing a Computer Science degree and therefore had easy access to PC's basically an excuse for Birmingham LEA to be tight **ses.
