Tips for judging spatial positioning?

Post by MadMax »

Hello!

I'm looking for some advice on keeping tabs on where my car is in relation to other cars and etcetera while I'm on the road.

I've had my license for a few years, but because I'm so concerned with not hitting the things around me while I'm on a crowded road or what have you, I really haven't driven.

Has there been anything in particular that has helped others?

Honestly, just getting out and doing it is always going to be the best way. I can't 100% relate; I go to university in London, so I cycle everywhere, but it's somewhat similar. After a few years of cycling around London's roads, I am now completely comfortable positioning my bike, and weaving through traffic.

You could go somewhere where there is less traffic to practice like an industrial estate and then attempt the main roads. Spatial awareness can be really annoying. My driving instructor pointed it out when I was learning and it was the first time I'd ever thought about. Now it seems obvious, and not just with driving.
