Anybody got Kids

Post by cricketman123 »

Has anybody on this site ever had a girlfriend or even gone on to get married and have kids.

I am 25 and have never kissed a girl, hugged one or held ones hand. My stepbrother and stepsister have people they love and I am just loney

Believe it or not, there are married (and unmarried) Dyspraxic people on here in relationships who also have children*

I've also (so far) missed out on finding someone and it's impossible not to let it get to you and yeah it seems like everyone else is happily coupled up. Try not to panic about it though I'm conscious of the irony of me writing this. Try to be happy in yourself and make opportunities to meet and talk to women and hopefully you'll meet someone along the way.

*please note the term kid refers to a young goat and for some it's acceptable to put goat in curry.

It's completely understandable and the feeling of misery tends to be more pronounced when other things are not going well. It's hard to know what to say that will be iny any way effectivr in tetms of providing comfort. Try to find sonething to to that you enjoy and will act as a positive distraction (not easy i know!)

Hi,
I've never had an assessment for dyspraxia but do have a lot of symptoms of it. I've been married for 25 years and have three sons. My friend gave me some really good advice for getting married that her mother gave her and it has been very useful. She said to really lower my standards. Hope this helps cos it worked for me! :- ;) ;) ;)

I don't like the talk of lowering my standards if I find someone I love I would love her, she would be the highest ever standard no matter what she looked like

Some would say lowering standards is cynical advice but I guess it’s born of self preservation to an extent in that people can and do change let you down or disappoint.

On the other side of the coin you have to be careful of putting someone on a pedestal as they may feel uncomfortable and worry they might be unable to maintain the ideal in which you hold them. Our human failings are a nightmare!

If I ignore a very brief ‘relationship’ during my teens when a girl in my class had a short-lived crush on me, and I’m talking about a matter of weeks in which we didn’t even progress beyond holding hands...

... then I didn’t get a girlfriend until I was about 33. My only kiss before that was as a teen in a nightclub and suspect that the girl did it for a bet because as soon as our lips parted she buggered off and I never saw her again...

... but I disgress. For a very longtime I thought I’d never meet anyone either. I had mentally accepted my own external bachelorhood. And then love happened for me when I was least expecting it. I’ve been with my girlfriend now for nearly 2 and half years, we live together and we have a mutual understanding that eventually will we marry and have children. We couldn’t be happier.

Relationships are mysterious things and extremely difficult to advise on as everyone is different. I discovered that well meaning people who tried tutoring me on the subject invariably caused more harm than good.

But what I do know is basically you have to get on with life. It’s not easy but if you develop an active social life then there’s a greater chance that you’ll find a partner.
