Surviving Valentines Day!!
Hi all
Valentines day approaches, sadly a day i look least forward to in the year as its the day im most reminded how crappy my love life is, and once more i will most likely be spending it alone and with nobody yet again never had any luck on valentines or anything, so i will try and pretend it doesn't exist. how will the rest of you survive? doing anything or are you lucky enough to have someone?

I guess I just let the cynical miser in me revel in the fact I'm saving money, but it doesn't really dull the emptiness.
Guess the only thing is to spend the day doing something you enjoy that will take your mind off the date.
Optimistically we still have a week to find someone to make above plan unnecessary

Re: Surviving Valentines Day!!
yeah distraction is the plan i think would be nice for once that wasn't alone and single on valentines, maybe next year.
Re: Surviving Valentines Day!!
It doesn't often bother me unless, someome has gone out of their way to make it in your face.
I'm not generally interested in these 'celebration' days as they tend to be very materialistic.
But there's no deneying that these things have the knack of making singletons feel more loney.

Re: Surviving Valentines Day!!
yeah but just once be nice to be noticed or included and not feel alone
Re: Surviving Valentines Day!!
I'm pretending like it's not even happening. But I wish everyone in love a wonderful day.
Re: Surviving Valentines Day!!
lucky those who have someone, make the most of it
Re: Surviving Valentines Day!!
I think the worst thing is that reminds us that we feel loney, something which is compounded when someone else tells you of their own elaborate plans for the day with their loved one. And you're just thinking, 'sheesh, why can't I have someone special in my life?'.FAndrews wrote:yeah but just once be nice to be noticed or included and not feel alone

Yep, doesn't help I'm still getting over a bad break up from nearly 5 months ago (never heard from her afterwords by the way) which doesn't help either
time for distraction i think.

Re: Surviving Valentines Day!!
Just take a moment and think about some of the great parts of being single - you can more or less do your own thing, no one to pressure you into 'changing your ways', no money wasted on a doomed relationship etc. etc
And if you believe in the idea of a soul mate (I personally don't, but hope doesn't hurt) then you can simply sit back and laugh at all these idiots buying heap loads of consumerist crap in a meek attempt to fill the hole present due to an incompatible, boring, stupid and vacuous partner until you eventually cross paths with someone seriously on your wavelength

Re: Surviving Valentines Day!!
yeah that would be okay i guess but ive spent most of my life single and don't really know otherwise except for one relationship which ended suddenly which im honestly still getting over. to all those who have someone, make the most of it!
Re: Surviving Valentines Day!!
well i survived it, spent it at my local gaming store, chatting about hobby stuff and working on models, no romance for me and made a good distraction.
Re: Surviving Valentines Day!!
Great In my experience nothing much really happens on valentine's day anyway, its only if you start really thinking about it that it gets you down.FAndrews wrote:well i survived it, spent it at my local gaming store, chatting about hobby stuff and working on models, no romance for me and made a good distraction.
Re: Surviving Valentines Day!!
exactly i tried to take my mind off it and treat it like another day.
Re: Surviving Valentines Day!!
Yes, Valentine's Day can be horrible when it's almost impossible to find someone. This year is no different.
However, I did meet someone in 2006 and of course this year marks 10 years since that happened. I am not with her anymore, but I am still in touch with her as a friend. I hope that I can find someone this year, although optimism doesn't always work in this way.
