Completely unrelated, but your 'alternative spelling' comment made me chuckle, Tomfod

I realise this is an old thread, but I've often wondered if there's a link between dyspraxia and sexuality. A lesbian myself, practically all the dyspraxics I know are gay or bi.

I'm not sure how it applies to men, but speaking from my own experience, my dyspraxia has meant that I struggle with so-called "feminine" activities. I can't walk in heels, look a sight in makeup and feel incredibly awkward and uncomfortable in dresses and skirts; it makes me feel like I'm in drag. I also find it very difficult to "perform" femininity, thanks to my speech and movement difficulties. People have assumed that my 'androgynous' appearance and behaviour are a conscious choice to be 'butch,' but in fact it has far more to do with my dyspraxia. I don't want to waste unnecessary time and effort only to look like a parody of a woman.

Although I attempted relationships with men when I was younger, I always knew that I preferred women. I do relate to what earlier posters say about a relationship with someone of the same sex being 'easier'; since I already have problems communicating, having to do it with someone with a different sex and experiences from myself would be a nightmare! I can't help feeling like heterosexual relationships are based on a strict gender dichotomy, which I find very frustrating and difficult (and doubly so if you're dyspraxic, I imagine).
