Re: Low Moods

Lulu You're very welcome. CBT (or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy it sounds worse than it is in full!) works similarly to my description, whereby you take your negative thoughts about yourself and counter them with evidence that these things are not strictly true. The classic example might involve th...

Re: Defining oneself as dyspraxic - or not?

I would never define myself alone by Dyspraxia, obviously, but it is a fact I have it so in some proportionate way I do. I understand that many may not want to do this, but I am bad at considering the emotional impact of my decisions even though being logically accurate is technically correct.

Re: 25, new here with undiagnosed dyspraxia and struggling with life.

Hi there. I am 26 and went through an extremely similar trajectory at university and with life in general. I did end up with a job I loved at one point, but it is really hard to find that for most people most of the time. I am quite tired right now but am keen to explain more and will be back later ...

Re: upbringing to blame for way i am now?

It is said 40% of who we are is caused by environmental factors, with another 40% for genetics and 20% for so-called random chance coin flip-esque decisions. I was treated similarly as a kid and know it is part of the reason I am so unassertive and anxious, but I don't blame my Mum. I used to, but r...

I'm in a very similar position at the moment. I'm often up for a chat if you're interested.

Re: Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

I am introverted but can't abide long bouts of solitude. I definitely think this is correlated, although not necessarily caused by, Dyspraxia, as it is considered to be on the Autistic Spectrum so...

Re: Left behind by technology

I think it is quite natural. They say that those over 30 struggle with new things on this scale, primarily technology. Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to rewire itself, something that decreases with age. Still, Dyspraxia may play a role too. I love tech and am always fussing to learn new stuf...

Re: Eyesight and Dyspraxia

Hi Sarah and welcome To be fair only five of us here who have responded to this thread so far, but yeah it does seem to be a factor for some of us. Yeah, I agree with this. The thread name means that confirmation bias is going to lead those who aren't eyesight impaired to rather not post. My eyesig...

Re: Finding a hobby(for dyspraxics!!!)

I played piano when I was really ickle, but when I found out about Dyspraxia I quit. I met somebody at 16 who also had it and she played rather well, so I thought "to hell with it!" I imagine it is partly due to my interest at a young age, as that has been shown to develop pathways in the ...

Struggling...

Hi there. I was a member of the Dyspraxicteens forum about 10 years ago in the more nascent Internet, but as I am 26 now, it hardly felt appropriate to go back! I mainly want to just interact with some friendly faces (or avatars) as I am really quite lonely at the moment. I moved recently, you see, ...
